This was my 1st attempt at the pf tek using the EQ strain. I was very happy with the pin sets but disappointed with the size of the mushrooms which dried out to about .2g each -- Any insight on what I could do to increase the size of these guys?

what size cakes are those 1/4pints? thats what it looks like i dunno whats up with your cakes my mini casing is only putting out small mushies stems look exactly like yours and they dry to be hollow as a straw...and im using b+ strain...hopefully someone with more knowledge can help but from what i understand try more FAE and misting.....
EDIT: i just reviewd the pics the mycelium looks like its blue from bruising...thats a sign of lack of moisture inside cake from what i understand might want to pick all the mushrooms then give them a 24 hr dunk..

I think it has to do with the large amount of mushrooms you have on each cake. If you have that many, they can only get so big. How many grams TOTAL dry mushrooms did each cake put out? Keep in mind that the average yield for a 1/4 pint cake is only like 3.5g dry for ALL flushes. I'd be happy w/ those results personally, as small mushrooms are more potent per gram than larger ones.

Haha, that's what I was thinking too. That is a TON of mushies, small size or not. And from my experience as well, the small ones pack a whallop.
I actually think you did pretty awesome for a 1st grow!

Perhaps you can increase the nutrients since the size of your cakes are probably what's constraining the size potential of your fungi.
Any ideas on additional nutrients might help.
Just a thought.

Nice first grow lots of good lookin little mushies
with cakes the only thing you could really do to increase the size of you shrooms would be to use half pints or stack your quarter pints and provide even more FAE while they're in the FC (just remember to mist before hand every time)

Thanks for the comments -- each cake produced about 4g dry so I guess thats not too bad, I also had a batch of B+ going at the same time which produced about 3g dry per cake but I found the B+ trip to be lacking, more of just a body high.. I am looking forward to trying out these little EQ's this weekend -- hopefully yall are right about the little guys packing a punch. The cakes are 1/2 pint btw.

4g dry on 1 flush is very good. with that many shrooms there's no way they were gonna get much bigger. the tradeoff is a bunch of small shrooms, or a couple large shrooms - i'd definitely rather a bunch of small ones.

These shrooms suck! Had some friends over and we all ate 4+g and no one tripped! B+ only gave a weak ass body high and a week later EQ didnt do shit!
What the hell? Can someone take a stab at why the fuck we did not trip.. why these mushrooms suck?

grow them on rye and manure/straw. plus it could just be the strains genetics. take spores and do another grow. potency fluctuates with them.

The ones we ate were fresh -- I dried most of them in a nesco dehydrator but kept some fresh because we were eating them shortly after harvest..
I have some more brf jars already colonizing at the moment -- what would you suggest I do with them (spawn to..) because I dont want to do cakes and get some weak ass shit again

I dont know the temperature of the nesco I used -- And I have already realized this problem and will purchase a dehydrator with temp control for future drying but I ate fresh mushrooms, not the dried ones.
And I will look into spawning these brf cakes to hpoo and coir, thanks.

last time i used a dehydrator the potency sucked(glad i only had a lil bit in there)
now i do what i used to,dehydrator racks on top of a fan
dry in less than a day
try that see if it works for you

Was that 4 gms a piece or between you all. I'm assuming that it was a piece and that it was 4 gms wet weight which would do nothing but give you a body high. You need at least 10 gms wet or 1 gm dry (per person!) to "enjoy a day at the park with shrooms. If you want to "EXPERIENCE LIFE" then your talking 300 gms wet or 3 gms dry. Oh hell, now that I'm thinking about it this all of a sudden belongs in the Psychedelic Experience Forum. (Those are "generic" and "PERSONAL" weights to trip level measurements and should not be taken as "recommended" dosage amounts!!!!)

We ate 40-50g wet each and just got a body high for an hour or two. The EQ gave a little bit of a stronger body high than the B+ but just a body high nevertheless. They were taken 1 week apart. I just dont understand! They look damn good, lots of blueing and everything, but the trip just never happened. Pretty frustrating.
And the spores were from Ralphsters.

Lots of things can affect it... how was the set & setting, do you have any medications, did you take alcohol with the mushrooms...

Damn that makes such little sense! I've only eaten shrooms maybe 5 times - and every time it was no more than 2g dry, and I TRIPPED everytime lol.
40-50 fresh is like 6g dry, when you factor in a little alkaloid loss from drying.

as i get older, my tolerence changes. it takes me more of everything....

Setting was fine -- After we ate 30g we put on some music and smoked a bunch of bud >> an hour later we all ate 10-20g more since we hardly felt anything >> an hour and a half later, we were pissed and started drinking. I guess Im going to try a higher dose next weekend.

Dude.. 1. sometimes it takes me 3 or even 4 hours before I'm properly tripping... time is a weird concept when it comes to tripping. 2. drinking alcohol is a hell of a good way to bring down a trip...

3-4 hours?! never heard of it taking that long.. And we started drinking 2.5 hours after ingesting the first 30g -- After 2.5 hours of nothing our mindsets were all messed up anyhow, we concluded we werent going to trip and thus turned to alcohol. Maybe we should have waited longer.. Ill put your time theory to the test next weekend. Thanks for yall's input.

I ate 22g fresh GT last night and if it was 40g I would have been commanding the SS Enterprise! I have heard great things bout the B+ so I'd chalk it up to variences in multispore inoculation. You never know what you're gonna get. I have also read that potency can vary greatly between flushes so don't get caught by the meanies next time!
also I like to fast the day of tripping with liquids only and NO BOOZE!
30 mins after eating I eat a Vitamin C tablet and wash it with OJ and shazam!!!!
This was my first time eating fresh and I will go back to dry from now on. I like a quicker comeup and sharper visuals than I got with fresh. Although the body buzz last night was HEAVY!

My batch of F+ should be ready for harvest by the weekend, and I plan on trying the lemon tek out -- hopefully theyll work better than the B+ and EQ I grew.

My first time ever taking mushrooms I ate about 25g wet. After like three hours of sitting around not feeling anything I went out and smoked a joint with a friend. I remember looking at the clouds and they were all glowing yellow, then I started to feel weird.
It took its time, but it got me there.

shit man, only explanation i can think of for you all not tripping - is that you are aliens. seriously, weak or not, you should have tripped off that kinda dose, especially wet. theres a chance one of you has a natural high tolerance for shrooms - but all of you, is just fucking wierd.
anyways, nice grows man, they are great clusters you have there. i especially like the hawiian. be careful when trying higher doses, cos i have a feeling it will knock your socks off before you know it, because there isnt a person alive that cant trip off a good dose of shrooms...!

Eating'em fresh is like going to the grocery lol. When they're dry it's harder for me to take them down.

You are not! I've noticed the EXACT same thing. Fresh shrooms are so much more intense! When you eat them dry it's like something's missing... you can't quite tell what it is but it's there. Or should I say, it's not there...

The Hawaiian and the F+ were awesome! Six of us all ate 45g fresh and saw Bolt in 3D at the theaters.. which was amazing!! I highly recommend it. I dont know what the deal was with the B+ and EQ, but I am very happy to have some good shrooms out of this 1st grow.

I forgot to mention how strangely quick the F+ kicked in -- No more than 15 minutes after consumption, we were all tripping pretty hard, and some of my friends even swallowed their shrooms whole. Ive never had shrooms kick in that fast. The trip was very light, not much of a body high, but very good visuals. I would definately recommend F+ if you are looking for visuals.

This is also my first time... I've never even tried them yet ;P this is gonna be #Epic Omfg.. lol smh..iKnow i have patience, so i'n just chill thats not an issue... But yea... any advice or anything is greatly appreciated I will keep updating pics.. Here's some pic now.. this is like 2 weeks in i suppose.. Im doing Hawaiian(in the Taller glass cup) and Mazatapec(Mexican in the little glass tea cup)...
