 Do you think that marijuana should be legalized in the USA?

Well, I know it's legal to smoke marijuana in Alaska. (and a few states for medical reasons) I think that it should be legalized. There has never been a recorded death from it. It is only mentaly addicting...and it was banned in the first place because mexican's kept coming into the country to sell it. What do yins think?

yes and they should ban alcohol. but it would screw to much tax money and people out of jobs so that wont ever happen. if they legalized marijuana who would fill up the jails and prisons for petty repeat violations? i personally don't smoke pot but stand strongly behind legalizing a harmless plant.

It's so stupid. Cig's and alcohol are proven addicting and they can kill you. (plus you can OD on alcohol) I'd think the government would want to legalize it...something else to tax us for!!

yeah but the upper middle class and high class people don't see it as harmless, they see it as a "gateway drug" that keeps there children from carrying on the oppression of the middle and lower classes. god forbid johnny actually experiences what it is like to be alive and maybe come close to the meaning of being here instead of more money for the family. God i hate the upper middle class.

Why should they ban alcohol? Just because you don't like it? How is that any better than having marijuana illegal? This is the same though process that got us to where we are now. It's idiotic, hypocritical, and just ignorant.
With that said yes I do believe it should be legal.

alcohol is proven to kill people. why would you assume i don't like it? i drink maybe 2 times a year i don't have a problem with it. but unfortunately there are alot of people who do have problems with alcohol. and alot of family's suffer because of alcohol addiction. same thing with nicotine i don't think i could quit smoking for the life of me. but i do think something that kills 400,000 Americans a year shouldn't be legal. its not ignorance its called trying to make things better for my children.

Isn't that how a lot of prohibition and control starts, "protect my children"? Hell why let your kids go to school, they could get shot or picked on by bullies. Is that protecting your children? Why let your kids watch TV look at all the horrible shit they could learn from that, is that protecting your children?
How about educating and disciplining your children. The you could quit blaming their downfalls on something else besides your own failure. That's the problem with Americans, they try to look for anything to blame their downfalls for instead of themselves. It's called responsibility.
If drugs were legal there would be tons of money to be made through taxes and the billions that would be saved every year from not having to imprison and pay for so many people. We could then use that money for rehabilitation programs and education programs. That would also free the cops up to do what they are actually suppose to do which is "protect and serve" not go looking for some 16 year old kid smoking a joint after school to harass.

Yes, pot should definitely be legalized in the USA. Not only should it be legalized, it should be openly sold like like cigarettes and alcohol with the same age restrictions. It should be taxed and the tax revenue should be used to help educate the public on its safe consumption for both its medical and recreational use.

i understand it is ignorant thinking don't get me wrong you are right about that. but as a parent there is alot of things i worry about. and i understand my children have free will and need to learn things on there own, they are not me they are there own people. believe me i had to fight so hard to keep there mom and her family from circumcising and baptizing them because i don't believe in mutilating someone else's body, and i also don't believe in choosing someone religion before they even understand they are alive.
but drugs that kill people should be illegal, marijuana is a beautiful thing. i just think that way to many people are irresponsible with hard alcohol. its unrealistic thinking to believe they would ever ban alcohol. and the drug situation in this country is a fucking fiasco. there is no logic in locking people away who have an addiction.
and i agree cops need to spend time fucking with people who are actually committing crimes. and parents need to back of there kids for smoking weed. but making all drugs legal would fail.

Actually if you read in the Drug Reform sub-section of political discussion there are quite a few studies that have been done saying cutting prohibition would be much better and I agree.

I actually wouldn't let my kids smoke if I could stop it, until they reach a certain age. Even after say 16 I wouldn't condone it, but I would loosen up, because I know they are going to do what they are going to do anyway.
I think drinking wouldn't be near as big of a problem as it is, if they would lower the drinking age. The only reason kids go so crazy in college is because it is so new to a lot of them. Now I'm not saying hey get your kids drunk, but I am saying when they turn 16 or so, having a beer with them every once in a while will only prepare for what is to come. My parents did the same with me, and drinking waas never a big deal to me, while some of my friends with strict parents went crazy with it.

It's one of those things that seems illogical until you really examine it... But the solution is to legalize everything, and standardize quality and dosing with the 'hard stuff'... Let people make their own decisions.
The whole "world in flames upon drug legalization" position is weak, and supported only by fear and stereotypes of bad apple drug users. It also happens to be EXTRAORDINARILY supported by our corrupt government, and it's socioeconomic slavery program.
People in high places fear marijuana and other "mind freeing" substances. They aren't against drugs... just against the ones that might let you see through the bullshit they need to control you.

ill defiantly drink beer with my kids its a pain in the ass to get irrationally drunk on beer.and alcohol consumed responsibly really has no drawbacks besides a headache the next morning. and when i say not all drugs i mean heroin,meth,ect. drugs that you can and probably have watched friends and family get addicted to that changes them considerably. drugs as hallucinogens and marijuana have no reason to be illegal. the whole point of being here is to try and figure out why, and anything that brings us closer to that and further away from keeping the bottom line up is targeted.
i am fairly confident my kids will experiment with drugs. and i will always be there to talk about it, Ive been down that road through my teens. but if i ever catch them using meth or heroin they are going to learn real fast what fatherly love is.
