So I compensated for not being able to go to Salt point yesterday by instead going to SF. I somehow forgot where my old patch from last year was, and spent 4 hours looking for it unsucessfully. And then walked into a patch with a bunch of cyans. I think this is the first time I've gotten cyans, I've always gotten the tan color lookalikes before, I'm not sure if theyre cyanfriscosas or something else, just that theyre active. I'll post pictures in a second as soon as I can find the damn cable. Its wierd, last year in SF, there were mushrooms everywhere you looked, and the problem was sorting through them and finding the right one. This time there was hardly any sort of mushroom except for small white button mushroom looking things, some giant agaricus (I think), and hypoloma aurantiaca, and cyans.

Civ, I told you my phone is out of battery and I haven't had a chance to go to Marin and get the charger.  You don't need to be mean.  The season has just started, what's the rush?

Tahoe, sorry I didn't meet up with ya, I think I might be coming down with something.
Alan and I thoroughly scouted the place you and Smily went to find those Friscosas just last weekend and we didn't see a single pin.  I'm glad to see they have started to come up since then!

Mean?LOL, CC wtf are you talking about?  Last thing I said was about stinkhorns

Iam headed out there friday if anyone wants to meet up.  I'll be there sat morning also for most the day.

First finds of the season for me.  I checked a few patches, only one had any action.  Grabbed a handful and hit the road.  These were hiding under tall grass in SF.  The second picture is after they'd been rolling around in my pocket for an hour or so.

Happy the season is finally upon us!

suimush, those look like redwood chips? Just wondering, because I thought cyans grew under alder woodchips, I usually walk by areas with that red kind of woodchips as I've always assumed they wouldnt fruit there.

Are all the red color chips douglas fir?

Here are the pictures of my first finds. I did'nt take pictures of them in their habitat as it was pouring rain when I found them.

im at a loss here after viewing the pics of cyans on this thread....

i thought that those found in the states where supposed to contain higher levels psilocin thus this would mean that they would be more blue then the ones i have currently seen....

these cyans here where photographed about half hour after picking they where kept loose on their own in a pocket....

bluing just means they are losing potency
most people try not to bruise them too much, cause they want to preserve them

Bluing is result of the psilocin reacting in the air, these where hardly handled but bruised very ealiy.. indicating pretty high levels of psilocin.

bluing isnt quite understood yet from what i understand
but the only glimpse of whats happening has been that the psilocin is breaking down in the air

therefore bluing - loss of potency - as far as we know.

so yeah, if they blue alot.... they WERE potent.
