I think the problem this author has is that the youth seem vapid and without any interest in their future in politics, and their world. And that's often quite true.
But it's hard to truly gauge things as they happen IMO.
I hope that as the environment gets worse and worse more people are forced to think about the way we live.
Because this fucking suicide machine is not cool.
And if we don't slow it down, we're fucked.
Gotta say , anyone that doesn't get that, regardless of their age, disgusts me.

Of course you're right about that psilocybebeingzz. However, I don't think they're is a chance in hell that we're gonna convince everybody to slow it down. But.... there isn't necessarily wrong with the speed at which we are progressing and even the consumption that everyone has. The bad part is that we're burning a bunch of toxic shit out in our ozone to do so. But everyone knows that that isn't the only way to go about doing things. What it will take is a gradual change in our resource for energy. Hopefully, eventually it will be all wind and solar power considering there's plenty of it about. I am certainly not expecting everybody to stop driving cars and using electricity. But if it were possible to just run down to the store and get a rechargable battery (powered by wind/sun) and run your house/car off of it, then just about everyone nowadays, even the ignorant youth, would go do that rather then filling up their car with gas. It's just not yet available yet. I think it will be someday though.

Very interesting article. I never really thought of the 'hipster' as being a culmination of many different subcultures. This article puts into words exactly what I thought/felt about two years ago: that there were no current artistic and/or philosophical movements. Where is our pre-Raphaelian Brotherhood, our Dadaist movement, etc?

I'm afraid I am , or look like  a hipster. Posting this does not equal agreeing with everything in it. Far from it.
But getting back to my own possible "hispterdom".
I wear dress pants, a top hat type thing, I play Jazz music, and listen to post rock. I don't like Sushi.
But I just realized when I was riding my bike earlier people probably think I'm a hipster.
But as much as I know labels exist, I truly believe I live in them only so much as people see me a certain way.
I don't feeeeeeel like anything that's in a group. I feel like I am part of a group with my friends. But I'm not a punk, or skater. Or any bullshit label.
But as I said, regardless of all that.
Regardless of shopping at Value Village, not caring about fashion.
Dressing really casually, and listening to lots and lots of post rock, I don't feel like a hipster. Or any label. But I'm sure "I am"

which culture, no matter where you go in a america theres american culture specially amongst the hipsters the most. their culture is the same thing as the basic american culture they just do more illegal stuff and further more since when wasnt it american culture to do illegal things.
