I had an xbox360, it broke, and I got it fixed by microsoft, was without for 2 weeks, and then 4 months later it broke again, got it fixed again, now it is broken again, and I have yet to send it in, they are very faulty IMO. Of the 5 or so people I know that have one, all but one have had problems. The only one that hasn't is my dad, who has probably had it turned on for a total of 10 hrs since he purchased it.
I now have a ps3, my first one lasted about 4 months, then got stolen whenever my home got burglarized, and I replaced it with the insurance money, and the new one is still going strong. I recommend ps3 over 360 due to the quality of the hardware.
Im not a heavy gamer, but a casual one, seems most heavy gamers like 360 more, but with more and more games coming out on ps3 finally, it is about equal now.

PS3 = 1080i
360 = 480i

ps3=1080p with use of HDMI
360=1080i with use of component or HDMI
Why in the hell would ps3 be 1080i when it plays blu-ray?

360 can output 1080p but like PS3 there are very few games, if any, that are native 1080p.

Some 360s can output 1080p over HDMI. Some of them didn't have any HDMI ports and IIRC they didn't include 1080p support for component since very few TV's do 1080p over component.

All 360s can output 1080p now over component, VGA and HDMI. Whether your TV can accept that over component or VGA, even if it can do 1080p through HDMI, is another question.

Not ALL 360's have HDMI, but yes the ones that do certainly can output 1080p over it.

just bought madden 09 for ps3, grapics are pretty tight, but it has annoying jitter. the gameplay is smooth but after a play it studders for a second and then a menu comes up right after that, just kinda annoying. game seems slow at certain times in menu's as well.
im tired as shit so im not sure what my overall verdict is on the game, anyone else with the game and notice these things?

i have been loyal to playstation since the first one released...tried to play on 360...bleh...
ps3 has free internet gaming...blue ray...hdmi...hella games...wireless controllers only...looks sleeker...going to be the playstation application for the next 10 years with dl's to keep it up to date and grow with services...no need to wait for the next big thing...
its the total package...
ifthe dvd player is too loud get a kickash stereo system....sheesh...

Ps3 is garbage. If it wasn't for blu ray, Sony would of bowed out of this gen.

For the next 10 years? You think it's going to last for 10 years? Sorry pal, but the PS3 is old technology now. So is the 360. These consoles will be around for a few more years, then the next consoles will come out. Not to mention the graphics are already very dated when compared to PC.

which is exactly why I refuse to buy either (my g/f let's me use her's, she has both) I personally have always thought Pc gaming was the best (not to mention upgradable) Just get an Amd Mobo and a quad core cpu, and crossfire graphics, and your set!! Not to mention you can have multiple Gpu's with Pc's. Sorry but Micro$uck and $ony are just trying to capitalize.

I only wanted a PS3 (I DONT own a PS3) for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy 13. Lucky for me though, Final Fantasy 13 is being released on the Xbox360 (I own a 360) on the same day it comes out for PS3.
Now I only have 1 reason to buy a PS3 or I could just play MGS4 at a friends house.
I was lucky enough to buy my XBOX at BestBuy and got the $60 2 year warranty. I've had to take it back 3 times in the first year, and once more in the 2nd year. I have 3 months left on my warranty plan and its starting to not want to read discs again. Same problem as always. Once my warranty runs out and it dies again I'm just switching to PS3.
Oh, and PC will always be ahead of the consoles, thus why I simply upgrade my PC once a year with new CPU and GPU and upgrade MOBO every 2-3 years.
