Fixed for WW2.

How did I know that one was coming.. You didn't even join the war until we had essentially won it.

I'm not going to get into this argument though, maybe another thread though .

Eh, now that I think about it, I don't want to pull every knife out of the knife block and take a picture of it. Maybe later.

Edit: question for you guys. I cleaned out my bubbler with salt and IPA last night. I did this over the sink which had dirty dishes and silverware in it. I guess some salt got on the dirty knives and I just washed them and there was rust all over one one them. Yeah, it was a cheap ass set of knives.

Aside from not pouring salt all over wet knives and letting them sit in the sink over night, what other precautions should I take to prevent rust? Do you guys put oil on your knives to protect them from moisture?

Also, I've never been taught how to sharpen kitchen knives using the knife sharpening rod. I need to sharpen some knives but don't want to fook them up. Tips?

If its a good knife yeah you should always keep it oiled. As far as sharpening it goes, I use a wet stone, then a ceramic bar, and after every time I use it, a steel bar to keep the edge straight.

you don't use the rod to sharpen it, you use it to get the feathers lined up... like, the edge is made out of a series of those little 'feathers', with use, they bend to the sides and the blade get dull. the rod's pupose is to get them lined up again.  it's hard to describe the movement, but you hold the rod still and shave it with the knife, towards the handle of the rod, one side, then the other, and repeat until you're ok.

if the blade is really dull, then sharpen on the rock(arkansas rocks for you guys right?) and after that use the rod.

for the rust you can use animal fat...rubbing it on the blade will made it black/blue over time, and this patina will keep it from rusting, except the edge of course.

edit: stones, not rocks :awesome:

HOLY SHIT!  This is a long-ass thread for one day.  Didn't know we all liked our knives so much!  I couldn't even be bothered reading the whole thing but I'll share mine anyway.

For about 10 years I carried this Gerber (bottom in pic).  My Dad gave me the Benchmade as a gift about 5 years ago and I been carrying that since.  I abuse my knives.  They are a tool which I use all the time, often for purposes they were never intended.  They are always dirty, but I try to keep 'em sharp...a dull knife is a dangerous knife!

Nice Thread.

From left to right.

#1 Kershaw Ken Onion "Vapor" I believe, I carry it pretty much anywhere I go other than places I carry the other two knives. It was recently used on the 4th to chip away at a 300lb block of ice to make an ice luge. Looks like it got some rust or dirt on it, gotta clean her up. This is the only one of the four that does not have spring assist opening.

#2 It's the smallest of the Ken onion "onion" series, scallion or leek? Chive? I can't remember which is which. It has a mirrored black finish that is hard to see in the picture, but very cool. Mostly a display piece due to it's small size.

#3 The largest of the onions, I used to have the middle sized one which several people have posted already. That one got me hooked on Kershaws and I carried it everyday till I broke it throwing at shit. This was also my everyday knife and also got broken throwing it at things. It's now my "safety" knife, I take it to festivals/concerts where knives are not allowed. Good for cutting shit, and the blunt tip is great for taking bumps.

#4 Another spring assist Kershaw, used everyday at work for cutting boxes and such. Nice straight blade that is easily sharpened and very sturdy.
