Who here carries a knife? Lets see it.
    #8609898 - 07/08/08 10:18 PM (4 years, 10 months ago)

I always carry a knife. Every where I go. Even to places I shouldn't carry a knife, like airports. It's in my morning checklist of things to put in my pockets. I have done this since I was about 18.

I guess it's just a Georgia/Southern thing. A big majority of the men will have a pocket knife down there. It's not so much for defense in the South as it is for... you never know when you're gonna need to cut shit.

Nowadays I live in a pretty bad city, so I mainly carry it for protection. Granted I've never had to use it(for protection), but it's in my pocket if I ever need to.

Here are my knives:

Top knife: Smith & Wesson SWAT Knife, 3.5" blade. Thats what I always carry.

Second knife: Browning knife. 3.25" blade. Very light and compact, stays sharp for a long time.

Third: Run of the mill 7 function Swiss Army Knife

Fourth: A switch blade knife/lighter combo with a Russian insignia. A friend bought it for me in Moscow. It's a cheap piece of shit, really. But it is quite the conversation piece.

Now lets see yours!

Edit: Forgot to add that my Browning Knife is died currently
The screw that holds the blade in place seems to have disappeared. I pulled the knife out of my pocket one day and went to open it and the blade and backing for the screw just plopped into my palm. Guess it's about time I email browning and ask them for a replacement screw... or just a whole new knife all together. That'd be freakin sweet.

Pearl handle with the "serrated" edge.
I only carry it if I'm walking around really shitty neighborhoods.

I carry a knife when I think about it. The tip is broken but it's sharp and would still pierce flesh if need be.

I always heard the blade can be no longer than your palm. I don't know the actual law though.

I have no idea.
I got it for free, I sell knives and won it in an office drawing. It's a hunting knife, but I tore the top flap off the sheath so it's a little more practical for protection.
Plus the thing looks fucking bad ass. It's a 5.5" blade I'm pretty sure, so the picture might be a little deceiving.

I don't carry knives, I have the power of Jesus on my side, and a tank.

Yeah, thats not legal. Blades under 4 inches are rarely legal.

Where I live the law says you can't carry a "gravity knife," which is a knife opened by centrifugal force (eg: swing open pocket knife), "without any explainable lawful purpose."I think protection is a lawful explanation.

I haven't seen anything about my state's laws on blade length at all. I've heard they still go by the "blade can't be longer than your palm is wide" rule. Which works out pretty well because my palm is... lemme measure it... exactly 4 inches wide. Legal limit in most states is 3.0" from what I've heard.

OP: you talking about everyday utility?

This is what I carry with me everyday, it's better than any Gerber I've had. S&W Bullseye, it was cheap as hell brand new, like $8.00

Yup, that is, a couple of basic one-handed opening/closing moves, no acrobatics. Remove the lock or it will come back to haunt you
