Ok. I'm gonna take all the foil off and just leave it naked with only the verm to protect it. I'm not gonna lie I'm kinda scared to do this. I've never seen it in any of the grow logs or teks I've read. (I've read a LOT of teks on here while being bored visitng the folks and waiting for my spores to arrive.)
And I shall never use the Oven tek again.

ermm... id wait before you leave exposed jars, i dont think ppl here 'got it' that you do not have lids on them jars, only foil... geez, i think you may harm it... someone point him in the right direction? - ive read alot in the past 2 weeks and never heard leaving exposed mycelium growing with nothing stopping airborne contaminants landing on it... sorry if im wrong here, only trying to help!

^ Haha that's the vid I said I used in my grow log. I've watched that video COUNTLESS of times. Yeah someone else informed me on who that is and it made me very comfortable in following it. Also I've done a search and found the general consensus is to take the foil off.
Man am I glad I posted this grow tek.

Now I remember why I didn't use lids, it's because I didn't have anything to make holes in the lids? What do you recommend I do after I take off the foil? Just leave it like that with no cover at all, just the dry verm?

Leave the tin on if you have no lids, but next time use the lids.

Yes, just leave them up on a shelf in room temperature. They don't need to be in darkness.

Do you have a drill with an 1/18th bit? or just a hammer and a small nail above a block of wood?

A bit of an update. This is Day 10...today. Looking almost fully colonized. There's still a patch or two on the other side.
I've now stored the jars just like this on a shelf in my closet.

When your jars are fully colonized be sure to let them consolidate for 1 week. Then birth 'em, dunk&roll, put 'em your 6 sided hole drilled, 4-5in well drained perlite, 12/12 lighting terrarium!
