shucks, i guess im not quite experienced enough with manure to say i have a solid foundation for comparison, i sure wish i could take advantage of that deal though. i use coir mostly because its easier to get than poo, and i work at a pet store so i get my coir pretty cheap. i would rather use poo though because my coir based substrates never really give me more than 2 good flushes, and usually a measly third, and ive had more consistent flushes from poo. unfortunately the vendors seem to have trouble keeping poo in stock. im excited to see what the more experienced folks like roadkill have to say about your poo products and the customer service and such, and perhaps ill try something of yours...the prices seem good, 25 bucks + s&h for 12 lbs is sweet

yes, geokills is correct. He let me know that the shroomery has other compost vendors already, and that the hole to be filled was for manure. I have no intention of taking any business from other sponsors, and therefore, we discontinued online sales of our composts.
I will also assure you that our product is a great substrate. We went through a lengthy 5 month review just to become a shroomery sponsor.
If you guys would like... just to show that our product is what we say it is...
We will host a contest with 3 prizes.
1. 1 free unit of our basic sub 2. 1 free unit of our basic sub 3. Free shipping on everything for 3 months
We ask that whoever wins share a review of the product here in the sponsors forum.
I will also send a free unit over RoadKill for some experimentation. It'd be nice if the shroomery could just pay for the shipping instead of actually buying a whole unit.
I love this community and intend to provide it with the highest quality basic substrates. We've been making it the same for years and it's always worked great.
I obviously just need to be very careful what i say in this position of this community.
Let me know what everyone thinks about a contest. If you guys like it, we'll start today.
Happy Trails, WTS

Aged horse manure contains lots of these bacteria too however.
Is it just me, or is substrate ideally NOT supposed to harbour any kind of bacteria or mould??
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want any kind of bacteria in my grows...

if it's sterilized it generally wont harbor any 'contaminates', some of these bacteria are beneficial and pasturizing will allow those to live while killing off most of those that are harmful, Agar always reported on firefang (Streptomyces) as a beneficial, it's used in the production of several antibiotics including neomycin, streptomycin and erythromycin as well as some antifungal agents
firefang often originates in decomposing grass so it's likely going to be found in most manure from pastured horses unless it's been sterilized, I've seen no harm done in having it in composted manure

These beneficial bacteria make composted substrates excel over basic substrates.
These bacteria assist the mycelium in many ways

Okay, but in order to keep the bacteria alive, you have to pasteurize the product before shipping... Pasteurization is useful if you are going to spawn the mushroom mycelium to the substrate as soon as it cools, but I imagine leaving an unsterilized substrate alone and sealed up for a few days would cause either over colonization of the substrate by the bacteria, or anything else that survives.

All of our substrates are "pre-pasteurized."
Meaning They are pasteurized before they are shippied very thoroughly.
There is no need for you to pasteurize, and that's why it's "Ready-to-go right out of the bag"

we do not currently use filter patches.
This is something we plan to start doing once we're a little more established at the shroomery.
