so. i have to move out. this ant problem is getting too much. fuck you exterminator for doing a shitty job.
i'm not even allowed to call until thursday (has to be at least one week before i call them again).
my roommate is lucky, she is at home right now while all this ant shit is going down. and i want to move out, i don't think this ant problem is going to stop, especially with the house surrounded by flowers/bushes.
so i need to find a three bedroom two bath house. because one o fmy other friends needs a place to live. it was so stressful moving in here. it's goign to be so stressful moving again. but the ants are so stressful. and i start my summer school tomorrow. and start my second week of work. and that's not going to help with stress. and i still have a lot to read for my class tomorrow already. and i won't be able to get sleep. and nothing ever seems to stay 'okay'. i can never seem to say 'things are finally good'. because when i do.. a few hours later. something fucks up. and then it takes a long fucking while to find that things are good. and it's going to be hard to find a 3 bed 2 bath that allow cats. i don't want ot live near campus, but my roommate who is home now has no car and the other person who wants to live with us has a car but wants to live near campus. fuck this. fuck it all. if it weren't for the ant problem. things would be 'okay'.
i just need someone i can feel comfortable with. i feel so completely alone.
i wish this was all a nightmare. this ant shit. there are two types. food ants (which like cat food) and electrical ants. that come out of electrical outlets. things are shit. too bad smoking pot doesn't help anymore. too bad i don't have anything else to make me feel better. too bad all i want to do is self-injure. but i did that friday night when i was drunk. and regret it because it's noticable if i wear a tanktop, which, it's been pretty damn hot these past few days. i don't even care that i'm blabbing. i don't even know who will read this.
but i want someone to save me.

Sorry to hear..
& You've tried tons of ant traps and nothing worked?
I had an ant problem before, what I did was mix up some thick koollaid into like a puddy.....I put it in a big container and when there was tons of ants...I'd close it and throw it out.....
Worked for me, but If it's INSANELY bad I don't know. You might have a hole somewhere where they're coming in constantly.
are they Carpenter ants? if so you might have a big problem, they might be eating your house

You can try it with that, or with candy, anything sweet....sugar....put it in something so you can trap them inside then put a top over it when they're all eating it

good god girl, no offense, but you need some prozac or wellbutrin or something. you just sound like you're being overwhelmed by everyday life. ants happen. work happens. school happens. shit happens. life is never going to roses and rainbows, and most certainly not if you allow your outlook to be so dismal.
so what? they're ants! i have roaches. it's a bit embarrassing, but the key is to make sure you put your food up, and then you won't get ants and roaches into your food. other than that, what does it matter? they won't hurt you. if it's only the ants that are making the place unacceptable, then maybe you should modify your view of what's acceptable. it'd sure as hell make things a lot easier.
sorry if this sounds insensitive, but you cannot expect the world to conform to your ideals of what's perfect. you need to be flexible. you need to adapt. if you can learn to do that and be content, then life will be a lot more enjoyable.

they're teeny black ants. ant traps don't seem to work. i've tried all sorts. the ones that are after sweets, which i had in my room when my friend came to visit and left twizzlers in her purse, liked the terro things. and the ones in my kitchen from the cat food likes the terro. but i don't have any left. i used baby powder with talc, cause that is supposed to basically make them blow up. used pepper. used vinegar. used windex mixed with water. used home defense. used raid. raid and home defense work the best and quickest for when there are a lot of ants. besides that, if there are just a few i don't know what to do but squish them, which the exterminator told me not to do anymore. fuck him. but the home defense thing, it's a weird pull out pump/spray and it all comes out the wrong end, and just fucks up. but that is the safest thing for the pets. but it fucks up now. so i have to use raid.
i'll prob have a nightmare tonight of them eating me alive. i'm surprised i haven't had a nightmare of that yet.

we get ants in my house sometime too. try boric acid. it isnt harmful to humans, but it kills ants. google it, you should be able to find all the info you need. we get tiny black ones too. boric acid does the trick, as well as making sure you don't leave any crumbs and seal all your food up tight.
good luck

I've tried all types of exterminator posions, concoctions and magic potions but that method of leaving tons of sweets in a containtor, say a plastic container for clothes put a couple holes in it not too many but enough so they can enter....then put candy, sugar, anything sweet even bread that's wet dipped in sugar works. I probably had more ants then you in my other house, and that solved the problem.
Also you can try finding where they live and killing there nests.....it might be anywhere......in the walls would be bad.
Can you take some photos of the ants? My friend is a good exterminator and he can suggest something.

even though I'm not really a fan of exterminating animals, sometimes it's much needed... have you tried buying 'ant traps'? small boxes that attract ants but are poisonous, the ants bring the poison back with them into the nest and they all die

i really don't want to do that sugary method. that will just bring more ants into the house. i'm sure they're all in the walls and electrical circuits, and it doesn't help that this house is surrounded by bushes and flowers. so it's hard to find their nests. i'll take photos tomorrow.

i am not a fan of exterminating animals. but am for insects. they don't seem to be into ant baits. i've tried all sorts. the terro liquid works good for the food ants. but it seems like whatever i try. it just kills those ants. and i know there are millions of others everywhere else around the house. i just feel like it's not worth living here anymore and dealing with this on a weekly basis. especially since global warming... people here say it will get better in fall. but it's still going to be warm in the fall. and they like to come in when it's warm or after it rains.

Maybe if you listened to your exterminator they would be dead by now.

no. because the exterminator didn't spray the entire house. and so they were coming in places they never came in before.

This time of year ants are after one thing, water. Dry the spring where they are drinking from, and they will move to the next spring.

I say you need to do two things. First, find some more terro, try to find the bottle of liquid instead of the terro traps. As long as ants are eating it keep giving it to them. They take it to their nests and it kills the queen too. I use that stuff and they act like it's cocaine or something, they will swarm around it and then about 2 or 3 days later they are gone. Also get some insect granules and (wearing gloves) sprinkle about a 1 ft band around your house. Read directions some have to be watered down some don't.
Anywhere you live there is going to be some hassle about something. If it's just ants get tough on them. The next place you move to might have something worse to deal with.
You might have to do it again in a couple of weeks , but don't fret, instead of mutilating yourself, take it out on the damn ants.

couldn't find terro sprays, but bought two more boxes of terro traps. there is so much shrubbery/flowers around my house. and it's not mine, i am renting it. and it's a duplex. and the lady upstairs maintains the garden and stuff. and fyi she gets ants too, but she doesn't freak out about them as much as i do. i guess she's just used to it. but she lives upstairs, so she doesn't get as many anyway.
meh. i think moving again would just be too much. i know once it gets colder, there won't be ants. just have to get through this year. and i'll move out to a new house. a better house. since i'll have more money and everything. meh. i had to throw out all my food in the cabinets today because ants were in there when i came home from school/work. :\

you're right, I have used cinnamon as a deterant around my beehives, it works.
what you need to do is find out where they're coming in, second, you need to find what they're after, you mentioned a slob room mate, is there any food sources laying around? check the foundation for cracks, it's a great place for ants to start
