both. and no, that's the OTO's creed and no, it doesn't mean "fuck everything up and sod off", it means that you should live accordingly to your will, be responsible for your own actions and don't take shit from no one.

Satanism is a way for people who are feeling unloved and aren't very creative to express their proud "individuality".

Satanism has some interesting ideas, and most of them good ideas are based on common sense and were already practiced in society, just not as openly as it is in Satanism.

Personally I see Anton Levay as a nasty piece of work, even though he was interesting. I find it hard to see Satanism as any different from Catholicism or Islam. Levay claimed to hate Dogma, yet he created his own form of Dogma and now others follow it, which makes him just as hypocritical as the people who practice religion that he claimed to be opposed to.

I am all for people following whatever path is easiest to walk for them, by my honest opinion on Satanism is although it has some effective possibilities, the worship of one selves and seeing yourself as the centre of the universe teaches you to lose compassion for others weaker than yourself, and can make one arrogant and cold, and if that happened in society on a large scale we would be in an even bigger mess than we are already in. Caring for the weaker and standing up for the abused is what holds society together, if we all became Satanists, the world would become a pretty selfish and harsh place to live, and many of the people now calling themselves Satanists would soon be wishing for the good old days to come back. I am very pro individualism, its important that we become individuals and leave behind the sheep like mentality that religion teaches us from cradle to grave, but you can still be an individual and care about other individuals around you that may be in need, survival of the fittest might well be the case in nature, but we can still offer a helping hand to others.

Anton Lavey's beliefs were mostly a rip-off from Aliester Crowley anyway. It was nothing new, it just became more popular from the 1960s onwards with the help of Levay and the distribution of LDS, which ideas complemented the freedom of mind movment perfectly.

Also, even though neither side will admit it, ironically if you look, conservative Christians and LaVeyan Satanists seem to differ very little in their attitude and beliefs when it comes to politics and life, many Conservative Christians as an example seem to be more likely to accept war, so do many Satanists, although on both sides its not always the case, as there are always exceptions to the rule, but in general its hard to separate some Christians and some Satanists.

People like labels to feel apart of something and to rebel from the mundane norm, especially teenagers, labelling yourself a Satanist is contradicting the whole idea of individualism that they wish to proclaim. Labels make you just like the others with that same label.

I choose my own form of spirituality gained by observing life and the beliefs of others that also come from observing life, so my beliefs are ever changing and evolving. I value a personal relationship with my creator or mind, and recognise my idea of the universe might differ from the next persons idea as reality is not static, it’s a different shape depending on what mind its housed. Everyone’s different, so everyone following one belief system just doesn’t work, and never will.

My biggest problem with Satanism is the ideas they've borrowed from Ayn Rand, particularly the glorification of selfishness(more specifically, what I call "lower selfishness," which serves the self as a separate entity, and one that is interconnected with others). Mostly, I think Satanism tends to attract rebellious people from a religious background. I remember going to a Catholic High School and seeing kids sneak the Satanic Bible in their backpacks, trying to be rebellious. I think there are some interesting aspects of LeVayan Satanism, but I find the Temple of Set more intriguing, with its focus being more on occult and initiatory practices. It also seems to be less about openly rebelling against society, since it's more secretive. I think it's much closer to organizations like the Golden Dawn or OTO(with a stronger emphasis on the left-hand path) than LaVey's Church of Satan.

Honestly, Satanists are very similar to "Shroomerites".
A loosely organized group of people that like to have fun but share their thoughts and ideas in a group of like-minded people.

BTW, the "Book of Satan" is virtual plagiarism of the book "Might is Right" by Ragnar Redbeard.

Since Redbeard is a pen-name and it is assumed the author is dead who is there to complain?

It's fucking stupid. I'm a "metal head" and I tend to lean towards darker, esoteric, and pessimistic shit... and have talked about satan and satanism many many times with 'followers'. I don't believe in satan. I can think of all the mental traits that they have though... I have actually been threatened by them, they are ego-maniacs. I dare them to cast spells on me...I will call upon the gods of MY fathers to Destroy all that threaten myself or family!

It was Anton LeVays fan club. Nothing more, nothing less. If you'd asked him in the last 5 years or so of his life, he'd have told you the same. He gave Marilyn Manson a free reverendship, basically for visiting him a few times and being a celebrity. It was a vessel to get LeVay ass and cash.

It's really awesome too. I love him and marilyn manson both. Two men who walked up to modern american youth and shouted, "Everyone is on the fucking take!" and american youth vehemently responded "Boy Oh Boy! I bet the guy who's telling me that EVERYONE is in it for the money is the one guy who ISN'T in it for the money!!!!!!" Of course they were in it for the money. also, the bitches. they tried to tell you that. It's what they were telling you all along. you just forgot to apply the lessons they taught you to them.

I mean, jesus, read some of mansons old interviews. He'd lay out in full detail what a big fraudulent showster he was, talk about how much money he makes, talk about how on sundays he'd wash off the grease paint and take grandma to the morning services at a baptist church, talk about how his fans were fucking idiots. Then, those selfsame fans would read the interview, pin the accompanying photograph to the wall, and swoon to themselves that finally, someone had come along with a real message, someone who wasn't just in it for the money.....

Whats to hate? I mean, unless you're a conservative cristian or a former rodie of his...

I mean, seriously. I've met a lot of people who have hated the guy without ever meeting him (to clarify, I never met him) or even really reading or knowing anything about him.

I must admit, there's a warm spot in my heart for various tricksters and showmen, partcularly if the con was huge, and even more so if they tricked me too.

I mean, I wouldn't be able to go on the afformentioned spiel if, somewhere in a garbage dump there wasn't a trashbag full of clippings from Circus and Hit Parade, 3 full sized wall posters, one black light poster, and about a dozen shirts.

The great thing about the Manson con was, the moment you really realized about it, it was kind of a joke you were in on. And if you were really, really clever, a con you could get in on. Those posters and shirts only hit the dump when they stopped getting me teenage goth ass.

rapists, child abusers, and junkies who tie people up and kill them for dope money are all in the catagory of satanist.

laveyans are romanticists.

hate is just a dysfunctional form of love, cowering in fear.

and lavey is the farthest thing from aleister crowley possible, there is absolutely no connection.
anyone who studies thelema is smart enough to realize satanism doesn't exist...except in the mind of rapists, child abusers, and junkie killers, like i said.

also, everytime i've ever looked into a police officers eyes, i feel like i'm looking right at the Devil.
they uphold false laws, liars=satanists.

i know some freaks who push dope on young strippers too, strip club owners- they are some of the most evil satanic people you'll ever encounter.

if you want to sell your soul to the devil, it's simple, just abuse children.

wtf?

i'm tied into some hardcore shit man.
i did the lavey thing when i was a teenager, and grew out of it as my brain developed into manhood.
and i'm in with the OTO, so i have the authority to say, crowley has nothing to do with satan.

laveyan's hold romantic ideas about magick and satan, but as soon as anyone actually discovers what satan is all about, they realize lavey is a total joke.

does that make sense?
or you think i'm lying or talking out my ass right?

wtf?

anyway satan in CoS is a symbol, not an entity, right?

lol
sounds like you know less about children then you do symbols or entities.

your question doesn't even make sense.
if you understand anything at all about consciousness and symbology, yea, they're entities too.

satan is an entity not a symbol.

and CoS isn't a symbol it's a church, a temple.
a house that houses an entity

an entity which the CoS really has no idea what it's dealing with.

does that make sense?

I think people have different views on Satanism, I don't think of those things at all when I think of what a Satanic person would do. I imagine a sacrificial ceremony in a secluded place where people are murdered for Satan, not for drugs.
