I just bought this, and am changing the neck pickup to a Fender strat, and the bridge to a P-90. I am also taking out the coil-tap (obviously) and the pup selector for two volume knobs. I haven't decided whether to use 250k or 500k pots, since the fretboard is maple or whatever and the neck pickup is really hot while the other is a P-90. Any suggestions?...
i'd put a 250 on the neck if it's hot, and a 500 for the bridge. i prefer 500's, especially in my mahogany guitars, but i kept the 250's in my mustang with a jb jr in teh bridge and it suits it perfectly.

I heard 1000k pots give an even brighter sound for the bridge humbucker pickups. btw..... I just bought a Seymore Duncan Twin Tube pedal and it sounds great. I have used many different pedals... Boogie V-Twin, Sansamp ect.... the sound of the Twin Tube is better. check it out on youtube.....

Can you post a pic?
I'm not too familiar with Schecter guitars, maybe I should go test some out.

Just bought this 2004 American Strat. I ordered a set of Lace Sensor Chrome Domes which should be here by early this week. Can't wait to put them in and see how it sounds. Anyone else have lace sensor's?

Sweet strats are rad, but I'd like to learn to love another instrument as much as a strat.
Can anyone recommend me an awesome hollow body?
I've always been infatuated with Gretsch but my interest in them doesn't go much deeper than appearance. Has anyone ever played one?

I've played high-end PRS, BC Rich and Les Pauls, and this one plays just as smooth and sounds just as good.
These sell for $1,800, but Phil makes other models for $950. Unlike machine made guitars, these will go up in value.
Just a recommendation for the guitarists around here.

That's a really unique guitar you got there.
I've never even heard of these before. I absolutely love the necks(fretboard).
How do these beauties sound?
I've never even heard of this Phil.

Thanks for sharing such neat guitars.
P.S. Cool rug too!

Hey thanks, I have searched and searched for unique guitars.
I've tried several handmades by home based luthiers, and Phil Gawen rocks them all. My only complaint is the necks are a little thick, like 60's Les Paul...
Bolt #61 sounded UNBELIEVABLE, it's SUPER sensitive and sustain for days, the coil taps give a huge range of tones, with a flick of a switch I went from Trey Anastasio to Adam Jones, and the action was so wicked low without any fret buzz I was doing hammer-ons and pull-offs much faster than usual...
I just could not in good conscience spend $2K on an axe, so I sold it.
I'm getting one of the $950 Castas now, without the crop circles, they're cool but not where the dots usually are so kind of confusing to play.
I've also tried http://www.minarikguitars.com/ (The <$1K models are non-handmade, korean import, very poor quality imo)
http://www.edromanguitars.com/newsite/guitars/quicksilver.htm (overpiced though imo)

So does Phil still take orders? I looked at his site and it said he was during august 2006.
Hmm, I don't really like those other two guys.
I thought the crop circles are cool shit. I'd really like to make a custom inlays on my fretboard sometime..

Oops I added an edit to your post instead of mine. :stonedmod:
Phil's down with custom inlays and his prices are the best among the custom builders.
He's always taking orders, but the wait can be up to a few months.
If you send him an email, please tell him Middleman sent you, he'll know who you mean.
btw, I called the Phiga Bolt "The Greatest Guitar in the World" in another thread.
That's not really true, here's the most fabulous axe on the planet:

Haha, nice, looks a lot like trey's old guitar. Is it a his new instrument?
Thanks for the advice, but I don't think I'll be able to afford a new axe for a while, I hope this guy is still taking orders for years to come because I look forward to owning one of these machines in the future.

I've had a number of guitars but these two have been my favs
This here is an original 73' tele. An old girlfriend gave it to me..needless to say, when we split she wanted it back she then sold it to one of my friends...that whore! [image] [/image]
this is what i play now (along with a bunch of my pedals and what i use to record). its all a mess in this old picture haha but it gets the job done

Man, I'd have been pissed if someone did that to me. She takes your heart and then your telecaster WTF
I've always like telecasters, but have been kind of hesitant in buying one. I don't see many people playing them(Except avril Lavine). If I were to get a telecaster It would be customized to hell though
Nice equipment you've got there.

if you don't see many people playing them live then you must not see a lot of people live, besides the LP and strat i'd say it's the most common guitar used.

This is true
Don't get me wrong, I love the look and feel of a telecaster, but I don't know much about the sound of a high quality one. I've played on very few in my life.

Teles are great for shimmering electric acoustic or slide blues, but if you get heavy go for a LP.

I'm not very fond of Les Pauls.
I used to really want one very bad, but I played on it, and just did not like the feel or the sound. I think they are absolutely beautiful though. Very classic.
I think the necks are way too fat, but I still want to own one at some moment, even if I don't play it. It would likely be a Supreme!
