Official vote for "Relationship Advice/Venting" subforum

It has come to my attention that there are many relationship based threads appearing all over the boards. I made the suggestion to Ythan to create a subforum in physical/mental well-being so we can keep all the related threads together. I feel that by consolidating them together people can not only talk about their relationship troubles, but they can use the threads as a reference, and it can also help people feel not so alone when it comes to getting your heart broken. Myself and RandalFlagg would moderate said forum (with Ythans approval)

People always bitch about seeing all the relationship threads in the pub and OTD, well if you help get the subforum approved you won't have to see it clutter other forums.

Ythan asked me to make this thread to feel out the general consensus.

I dunno if I even want to be a moderator...that's a lot of responsibility. But, I must admit that I'm dying to look at the Moderator's forum.

Also, having two bitter guys who've been burned by women moderate such a forum would be like having an Islamic extremist be put in charge of 4th of July celebrations.

I do think it'd be a good idea though given how many relationship threads pop up.

nope.

Its a pub thing.. the sort of general discussion that you would consolidate with friends.. A subforum (in p/m h) would create a less-friendly-more councilor-like environment.

Surely Physical and mental health is an adequate forum for this sort of discussion if people really feel it necessary?

What makes you qualified to moderate a forum about something you are constantly posting about having problems with in OTD?

This is the worst idea ever for a sub forum. Venting is one thing, but there's plenty of places you can already go for that. I've vented about my personal issues on here, but mostly to people in private channels. Part of working out relationship problems is doing so FOR YOURSELF, and venting is something that can be done in OTD/the Pub, and a few others.

eh.. i dunno. it seems a bit much to have a subforum dedicated solely to bitching about one's relationships. plus.. this is the pub. you go to the pub, drink a bit, shoot the shit about random topics, and every now and then you unload all your troubles on an unwitting stranger.

i'm just not sure another subforum is necessary, and i'm rather skeptical as to whether people would actually utilize it.

This is not the place to go for relationship advice. Support, venting, an open ear to listen.. maybe.

Having Gonz as a mod in a relationship forum is like putting a bull in charge of a china shop. I don't dislike him, but he's not mod material for any sort of relationship forum.

I think it's a good idea, but I can see how it would quickly go down the sitter based on the male to female ratio on these here boards...

And plus, the same advice is given over and over and over again anyway that dr_gonz and randall should just team up and write a sticky on how to deal with scandalous bitches, that would probably solve everything. I'd help throw in some usefil tidbits as well.
