Are you discounting even the possibility of a higher power....?

To us people that do believe, there wouldn't be thinking experiencing people without a higher power....

As for assigning meaning to such events, that is a matter of perspective really....
As you know, the subjective mind in a subjective experience reasons thus so....

As this form of cross-linking HAS TO occur with or without a higher power, why assume, other than for amusement, that these probabilistic 'events' have any specific meaning?

Why?

As an actor, I use synchronicity (as you describe it) as a tool. This tool has helped me, every time I have used it.

I do not know everything about the human condition, but when I play a character with qualities unknown to me, I rely on "Synchronicity".

If I start to PAY ATTENTION to the world around me, I ALWAYS experience something NEW, in my personal life, during the rehearsal process... which mirrors the character I play. And, this new experience WILL BE USED to help inform my dramatic process.

It is uncanny (almost spooky), and it works every time.

Is it magic? NO... but it feels like it... and, I am delighted by it.

If you look for something within the human experience, before long, you WILL see what you need to see. Not really because of "Synchronicity"... but, because it was there all along... unknown to you. It isn't synchronicity, nor coincidence... it is called, "Being aware".

I use THIS tool, all the time... PROFESSIONALLY... and yes, when I do, I feel like I'm getting away with something.

Moonshoe: If i see a rose blossom on my mothers tomb every year at the exact day she died, that can "mean" that the universe is reassuring me and comforting me and giving me this reminder that life endures.

OrgoneConclusion: Let's assume one believes this interpretation. As dreamy poetry it is fine, but to actually think that the rose's life cycle is somehow connected to your mother's death is very egocentric and is irrationality of the highest order.

I believe that would be called drawing a premature conclusion. Truth is, we couldn't possibly know if that was true or not until some investigation was carried out.

- What is the anniversary date of Moonshoe's mother's death?
- Is there a rose planted on her gravesite?
- If so, does the rose bloom every year on the anniversary of her death?

All of the above can be factually proven or disproven. Assuming that Moonshoe's mother did pass away on such-and-such date, that a rose is planted on her gravesite, and that said rose does bloom every year on the anniversary of her death, the only scientific response is to ask, "How could that be so?" The unscientific response is to draw a premature conclusion, i.e., to state prior to any investigation to actually think that the rose's life cycle is somehow connected to your mother's death is very egocentric and is irrationality of the highest order. We cannot know if this is irrational or not until all possibilities have been ruled out.

The final truth of the matter could be that every year a rose blooms on Moonshoe's mother's grave on the anniversary date of her death and we cannot come up with any logical explanation for why that is so. Is that synchronicity? Not necessarily. Is it meaningful? I could certainly accept that it might be to Moonshoe.

[Edited because a "shoe" is not "glue". With apologies to Moonshoe.]
