it's on my to-do list. after freeze-precipitation, i plan to filter and wash the crystals, then try the following to clean up and recrystallise:
Take 1 gram DMT crystals and put into a 1/2 pint mason jar. Add 125ml of hot naphtha slowly while stirring. Cap jar and shake to dissolve crystals. Tilt jar sideways and look for puddle of yellow oil under the naphtha on the bottom corner. Use eyedropper or turkey baster to reach in and remove this layer from the bottom.
Put in freezer for re-crystallization. Or build crystals: Put container in fridge for 3 hours, then in freezer for 3 hours, then in fridge for 3 hours, then in freezer 3 hours... make sure it ends up in the freezer when you go to bed. The next day do the same thing again, 3 and 3. You can continue to do this for a few days and it should grow some bigger clumps of crystals.
any comments?

Shit gives me a headache too. I need an outdoor deep-freezer.
If you're going to be using the fridge/freezer where you keep your grub, you might want to move some things out. Things like meat and especially bread and butter will absorb the aroma of naptha. If you've got any chicken or steak in there, I'd either eat it or go 'head and freeze it solid.
It sucks- going through all the trouble of making a grilled cheese and finding that it tastes like your last science experiment.:p

thanks for the tip. the freezer is full and there is no space for the pyrex glass dish, so i'm using a sealed 70ml jat with a cap on, and based on your comments i will also put this in a ziplok baggie.
the jar has straight sides, so i think i should be able to scrape free the dried on elfspice after shaking and filtering. i'll still use the flat dish for the final evap, and then clean both this and the small jar using dry parsely, which (atop a layer of ash) will be the smoking medium.
it's nearly there, look - down to about 80-90ml, so probably only another half hour before it's down to where i want it, 50-60ml in the little pot.

okay, bedtime.
evaporated it down to ~60ml, put it in the little jar, stuck it in the freezer.
used a cigarette paper to soak up all the waxy residues on the various utensils used. i'm sure i'll find a use for that while i'm waiting 
 
used the JD as a backdrop since you were enjoying it as a timeline backdrop. i don't fancy it's chances much of making it to the end!

Sounds like a lot of tough shit involed in extraction... on a scale from 1-10 how dangerous would you say extraction is without and chemistry background?

I'd give it a 3.
I think the most dangerous part is mixing in the Sodiium Hydroxide; simply because it puts off some nasty vapors. As long as you're doing it in a very well ventilated area and not putting your face over the mixture, you should be fine. I just use the same "AeroSafety" mask that I use for all my spray paint related mischief.
Chemical resistant gloves and goggles should also be worn but I can't say that I always follow my own advice.
Basically, it's pretty fucking simple and no chemistry knowledge is needed- but it makes the whole process a bit more interesting.

I just wanted to say congrats on your extraction. And also wanted to add a few things about my experience with acid base extraction. This may not yield as many results but it sure works, as you can see from my picture below. I have made many plant extracts before using this method but did not clean or change to a base and just dried up the acid extract. I have not done this with MHRB. The following was used to extract a combination of California Poppy, White Lily, and Kratom.
Day 1 - Freeze and thaw dried herb several times.
By the end of the day add acid water to a mason jar and leave in the fridge overnight.
Day 2 - Place jar into freezer for about 2 hours and allow to mostly freeze (this is done to squeeze out the alkaloids). Pour water out into a new mason jar. Repeat this 3 times. Then allow the frozen herb to thaw overnight.
Day 3 - Take the thawed herb put it back into the freezer and allow to freeze and pour off the water into the new mason jar. I've tried then boiling the leftover herb but all I get is a slimy gunk that mostly goes away when I defat, So i decided to skip this step.) Discard the herb and filter the solution in the new mason jar.
Clean the solution. Add Naphtha about 2 inches of naphtha or other solvent. Suck out with a baster. Repeat.
Add an inch of naphtha to the new mason jar. Create a water base solution with Lye. Pour this base into the new mason jar, gently shake, allow to settle and suck out the almost clear solvent. Repeat.
Allow this to air dry. This is the step I am at now.

Days after drying solvent - When most of the solvent has dried place the leftover amount into a glass dish for final evaporation. This should leave a yellowish crystal powder. Further cleaning can be done at this point.

after 2 days in the freezer, approximately shitloads is precipitating out. i had to keep wiping the condensation to take pics, but you can see it pretty good.
 
this is easy and fun. if i can do it (and i'm a lingerie model by day) then so can any of you lot.

if my washed and dried extract comes to 2g or more, does anyone see any benefit in redissolving it, it looks pretty nice and white - probably because of the prolonged decanting stage while i got hold of a gallon jar - thanks in the end to Loki.
i'm definitely still drying the crystals then giving it an ammonia wash to remove the last remnants of NaOH (lye) and drying again. i dunno if i can be arsed to then turn it back into a liquid. anyone got tips? anyone tried that thing with the eyedropper and the yellow puddle? would there be any benefit now in making the final 24h partly fridge-time (bearing in mind that i'll be at work, so i'll have to be content with a half-ass job of it)?
i'm pretty excited at this stage, but wary of giving up the chance to finally result in primo DMT if the extra effort really makes a difference

You can also try to add some water to the naptha during the drying stage, then suck out the bottom yellow layer with an eyedropper or baster. As long as not too much water is used the ph should stay the same, so i wouldnt worry about it turning back to acid.

ok, so i filtered it, and scraped the little jar onto the filter paper too. the naphtha is evaporating from a flat glass dish, and those scrapings will go in there too.
it's not so very white after all, and is definitely waxy in consistency. the yellower stuff was hiding in the middle and botttom, and i'm starting to like the idea again of removing a yellow puddle of crap from this stuff. i'll let it dry, then wash it with freezing cold ammonia and dry it again. more pics to come as i go through the steps.
