Ok this is the second time in like 3 weeks that someone with like 1 or 7 posts pm's me with something along the lines of "hi im so and so, ask me any questions you want, im new here, ect"
this shit reminds me of them assholes on myspace creating artificial AI, they tell you to talk to them on aim or msn and they seem like a real person but there not.....its fuckin scary as hell because they seem so real.
it also makes a person wonder....how many of you are real? am i the only one here? is this all one big mind probe too see a persons response, to collect the response...and add it to the AI's database as ITS response if its asked that.
i dunno but im tired of these peeps with 1 post pmin me.

Yes this exact same thing happened to me on three separate forums, The beloved Shroomery being one of them. It must be a vulnerability of the codebase in conjunction with manual manipulation by a user with a newly registered account. Other forums were a 3D modeling community and a CAD/CAM Forum, all running similar forum packages. All users had questionable or nefarious spam/linkfarm urls in their comments and profiles... seems like a long way to go about anything, but I'll be damned if people don't constantly prove they have the time to do the dumbest shit...

Well now that xeallos mentioned spam... I did get a strange PM from somebody with 1 post about a week ago spamming some nerd guild message board.

yah they sent me a picture of themselves and now tell me they can't upload nude ones and need my email.....im not stupid ive seen some ruff porn on here lol
but yah right now it seems its largely being used to gather emails to add to spam lists. but what better way to test out new tech for the oinkys? plus they musta made some mad cash selling this tech to them.
and think about it....this tech is even being used inside games....your not save anymore, infact this is borderline reason for me to throw the net out the fuckin window now. i mean if i can't even tell if im talkin to a person i mean WTF.

This sort of technology has been around for years it's nothing new. Sounds like somebody just breaking your balls or something really. If you're not moving kilo's of blow I wouldn't worry too much about it either way.
