I just started today.
Unfortunately my Radeon HD 4650 is mostly obsolete for folding now that so few WUs are being made for the 4xxx series now.

I'm running the SMP client now, I would like to run a GPU client but I use an nvidia GPU, not an ATI. Does anyone know if I can still use the GPU client, it specifically says it is designed for ATI GPU's.

I don't know what you're looking at, but nvidia cards are supported by the gpu client.

Cool, I misread the WinGPUGuide the first time I read through it. I am running it right now on my machine at home. How do I get one of the Folding@Home icons to under my pic next to my posts like I see a lot of other people have? My name on folding@home is the same as it is here, except with underscores instead of spaces. Clouds_of_delusion

Folding at home only uses your cpu right, it just uses the internet to upload info? I'm just wondering if internet speed had anything to do with how fast it works or if its just your computer because the computor its running on is considered old (i got it in 07) I dont want to install anything on my new computer however

It needs an internet connection, but it doesn't use a lot of bandwidth.

ok so it's pretty much just my computer, it's taken almost 36 hours to get 840/7000 on my current work unit. It's not always running as i'm forced to restart my comp. once a week and i dont always remember to open it again

So I've ran into the same problem on both of the clients that I am running folding@home on. My main PC at home, whos stats are as follows:
AMD Phenom II X6 @3.2GHZ 8GB DDR3 RAM 1TB HDD @ 7200RPM Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti @1.8ghz (processor clock) w/1GB GDDR5 Sabertooth 990FX Mobo
That should be all relevant info.. Running the GPU folding@home client is eating up all of my resources, pushing my CPU usage to >50%, and making the PC unusable. I don't have this issue with the CPU client, but it runs so damn slow! I've had it running on two machines now for over a week and I have folded 5 workunits! WTF! I just got into work and sat down at my desk, where this machine is running the CPU client, is having the same issue. CPU usage through the roof, I had to restart the machine to resolve the issue. Also, I have had the CPU client running on this machine for a week and this is the first time I have had this issue.
Why is folding@home killing both of my machines resources? And why am I not folding any workunits??

Yes...the gpu client makes the computer pretty unusable...I pause my folding whenever I want to use the computer.

Me too. I had to reinstall it to use the uniprocessor because it was pegging out all 4 of my CPU cores AND my GPU. It doesn't seem to respect the CPU settings in the preferences either. I'm donating my time, they should be much nicer to my system. Grumble grumble...

That's my experience too. Their software is really a piece of shit. They've been at this for years. You'd think they could get some geek to finally make it work right and be easy to set up and install.
I ran the GPU version for about two days, then removed it and gave up. If I'm going to crash my production machine all the time, I'll do it for bitcoin, not a buggy folder.
I wonder how much computing they're missing out on because they don't fix the software.

So, I've been folding at home for a couple days now.
I picked a username, and put the shroomery's team # in.
I was just wandering when i was going to get the Folding@home statistics link under my avatar.
Does anybody know when it actually shows up?
Thanks.
