Exactly. We don't know for sure. Unless and until funding is there for natural remedies all we have to go on is our own experiences.

I think that anything which supports overall health will tend to help with cancer treatment. We do know that omega 3s such as found in flax oil is very lacking in the standard American diet. I am personally leary of the conventional poison/slash/burn method of treatment. (And poisons can include natural substances as well).

The idea of there being A cure is a dangerous myth. Cancer takes many forms, has many causes, and everyone's body responds differently to different treatments.

If you are obsessed with finding the holy grail you may miss a hundred golden chalices along the way.

With cancer you throw everything and the kitchen sink at it. I think completely relying on any one thing, whether it be conventional treatment or alternative/complementary in nature is a mistake.

The fact of the matter is, Cancer is *GASP* hard to cure......omg?

Cancer is also completely preventable, and a relatively new disease.. a disease of the modern society.

While I don't doubt that there are things in modern society that can cause cancer. Couldn't part of the reason that cancer is more of a problem now be because people are living longer?

Not really because a lot of young people get cancer too.
So this theory fails.

Didn't read this article yet, but I've seen new studies that show flaxseed oil to be a causative factor in some forms of cancer, I believe prostate cancer.

I think krill oil's a much better source of DHA/EPA but that's just me. I stopped taking flax about a year ago after I concluded that it's just shit.

Constant bombardment of radiation (think of all those radio and TV and cell phone waves travelling through your body every second), shitty diets.. fast food, preservatives, refined everything and various toxic chemicals.. malnutrition/vitamin deficiencies.. chronic dehydration (most amercans)..constant negative thought patterns (our mental state does in fact influence our physical health..), chemtrails, pollution, microwaves, etc.. etc.. could al be factors (in my opinion) contributing to cancer.

As far as I am aware, Cancer didn't even exist until the late 1800s. It is possible that it did sprout up here and there.. but it was certainly not widespread. Cancer rates have skyrocketted over the last 50 years.

I believe for the most part, it can be prevented completely through a healthy mind, a proper diet, fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

But the question is can you cure cancer with the proper foods and state of mind? I've seen it done, so I think that yes, you can. A woman I knew was dying from cervical cancer, doctors and specialists told her she had 6 months to live, max. She tried almost everything but nothing worked. As a last resort she went to South America to visit a healer shaman in the rainforest. She stayed there for 4 weeks while he put her under an intense regime of whole diet, mud baths, ayahuasca trips, 'massage' with some kind of jungle berries, healing sessions in various forms.. the whole 9 yards. She returned home and the doctors found not a single trace of the cancer.. it was gone completely and they had absolutely no explanation for it.

The answer may not necessarily be Flax Seed, although some people have claimed to benefit from it. But I believe with the proper mindset and the right diet most cancers can be eliminated from the body completely.

Today, the Greek term carcinoma is the medical term for a malignant tumor derived from epithelial cells. It is Celsus who translated carcinos into the Latin cancer, also meaning crab. Galen used "oncos" to describe all tumours, the root for the modern word oncology.[43]

Ralph W. Moss, Ph.D Galen on Cancer - How Ancient Physicians Viewed Malignant Disease 1989

I would say that the reason cancer may not have been as prevalent is
1) The population was obviously much smaller.
2) People did not live as long. Cancer risk increases with age.

Cancer most CERTAINLY existed before the 1800s.

aside from what Organic said,

It's almost impossible to hold back all of the possible causes of cancer

there are numerous delicate mechanisms that go on in normal cells which regulate/direct it's own growth and death.

When any of those suppressors/enhancers are mutated the SLIGHTEST, it can trigger malignancy.

But doesn't this raise the question of what causes the mutation to occur? Even in those with genetic markers for cancer, the potential may not be expressed. It seems to me that our cellular health is directly linked to the quality of our lifestyle habits.

That seems pretty obvious to me but not the modern medical profession.:monkeydance: Their current nod to lifestyle links to disease are because they were forced kicking and screaming as some began abandoning them.

Normal cellular mitosis does not cause mutation, it creates a new cell.  The question is what causes the mutated cancer cell to be created instead of a healthy cell.  Are you claiming that cancer is the result of random mutation during mitosis, and that environment and lifestyle play no part in the creation of cancer cells?

It is the result of accumulated errors over repeated divisions. Think the telephone game. With occasional yelling in the background.

That analogy doesn't work for me. Why would there be lifestyle effects on the "accumulated errors" of normal mitosis? Cells mutate in the presence of toxins and mutagens, and the result is abnormal mitosis.

Its a simple fact that no copy is going to be 100% accurate every time. Each cell division requires the exact transcription of 1000's of pieces of DNA code. To expect that there will never be any transcription errors, EVER, is asinine.

Everyones DNA is filled with errors and junk that serves no purpose.
