my girlfriend saw an angel at church...

and i believe every word out of her mouth...
she was at church, and she says she saw 2 angels, one green and one purple, flying by the altar, and no one around could see them but her...then, angel dust (no, not PCP) was shimmering all over her jeans out of nowhere, and her friends did in fact see the angel dust on her!!
hm, so, at 1st it may seem hard to believe, especially for those aetheists out there....but hey, who knows right???
if i claim (and i do) that i've seen my face morphing and patterns of geometric symmetry while under the influence of mushrooms, then who am i or anyone to say what another person saw???
dont bash her beliefs....i'm posting this just to see if anyone here has any similar experiences/knows someone who has?

Im going to stop you right there.... so we dont have another 20 posts about "you prove it"... "no, you prove it".....
(we should put this as a rule in this forum)
you cannot disprove a negative. You can only rule it out in the face of gross probability. It is up to the person claiming a positive to give proof, not to sit there and say "prove that it isn't so".
In conclusion, this thread belongs in MRP.

Incorrect. It is green angels that exist, not purple.

To experience a miraculous occurance is something to treasure. I hate that these occurances are used to prove faith in something only very vaguely related. instead the psyche should be marvelled at and studied and cared for.

Exactly. Maybe the angels were there trying to "break down" the church. Although I believe in a higher spiritual power, I do not believe that one needs to attend a church or associate with a religion in order to find peace with that higher power. Maybe the reason she saw them, if it's true, is because her mind had been expanded enough to understand and comprehend the power of seeing this. I also don't discount ghost or alien stories either, because there seems to be more proof supporting it than the govt saying, "They don't exist." I believe that we have had our minds shut off to the spiritual realm by religion itself. If we as a people learned that we have a full access ticket (through some cool plants) to the spiritual realm, organized religion and govt would crumble to the ground. For those people whose families have been in power for a VERY long time, this is a very real threat and will do anything (including making shit illegal) to keep people from learning the truth. Why do you think organized religion is so quick to snatch up these stories and go running with them as "proof"?
This is all IMO.

i agree...
and in response to those making fun, that's fine, it's your right to i suppose...
but, as i said above, who are you to say what she did or did not experience??
why is it so much more acceptable to you then when people like me and on this board tell you they saw the carpets and ceilings move, talked to entities and spirits, and lost their ego on shrooms??
why is it just because mushrooms is involved does it make it more acceptable and believable what the eyes saw??

Because it's a 'hallucinogen' man, that is what they do. Whereas seeing angels while sober would logically imply a similar idea, i.e insanity.

yea, like you've never felt "insane" while tripping your balls off right?
also, keep in mind, in terms of her experience, perhaps she had a rush of serotonin or dmt release in her brain? you do realize these chemicals are in the human brain dontcha?

So maybe she hallucinated... which means 'angels do not exist'.

I don't believe anyone said this is what they saw. I believe all that was said was she saw two angels, and the color of them. NOTHING ELSE. They could have been reflections of skeletor, or they could have been some naked wrinkly old men.

You hit right on the mark, it was a hallucination, and we can agree they do occur.
In my experience the type of hallucination you have can have something to do with the environment, so seeing angles at a church makes perfect sense to me
I've hallucinated kids playing at an empty gym. Kids play at gyms, I hallucinated it. Nothing astonishing about that connection.
Also the nature of hallucinations is still somewhat unknown, meaning they can come in auditory form, come sometimes without the use of psychedelics, and even able to talk and communicate, also wield certain powers in certain cases, but that might be too much for some people to believe in this forum, so I won't go their too much.

is communicating with entities and having PROFOUND SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES on mushrooms silly as well??
just a sidenote, from my own experiences on shrooms, the "hallucinations" i see on the floor and walls and such seem "real" to me...
how can we differentiate what is "real" and a "hallucination"??
as i stated above, while tripping, me and 2 of my friends watched each other morph and age in the mirror together....how do i know that our faces dont ALWAYS look like that?? it's amazing how much "reality" can change just by dilating your pupils just a tad...
everytime i trip, i see this sort of transparent pattern emerge on the ground, and it's so beauitiful and detailed....my point is, as i trip, the realization comes to me that THIS PATTERN IS ALWAYS THERE, I JUST CANT SEE IT UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS...
if i told people of faith, churchgoers, about this pattern and my face morphing, they would call me nuts as well...but just as her experience may seem a bit unfathomable, i suppose so is mine....yet, i know what i saw, and i'm sure so is she...

You are missing a basic point of contention here...
Having hallucinations (mild or vivid) is REAL. We agree on this.
The things you see in those hallucinations (angels and such) are NOT REAL.
Quote:
is communicating with entities and having PROFOUND SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES on mushrooms silly as well??
No, not at all. As long as you realize you were talking to yourself. I find the belief in "angels" and "spirits" to be silly, not the act of inducing visions with shrooms. The point being at the end of the day, those visions are reflections of you and the world created in your brain.
To sum up...
Hallucinating is not silly. Believing that those hallucinations are somehow REAL is silly.
