WAAARRRR SHOGUN!!!!
I think the entire event was just an emotional rollercoaster for me.
Watching Wanderlei lose the way he did, in a very cheap manner with Arona simply laying and praying his way to a decision. Then he rubs it into Wanderlei, which got me more pissed at Arona.
Then watching Shogun come out to fight Overeem, I swear I felt sorry for the guy. The only people cornering him were Elvis Schrembri, his brother Rua, and some other random guy. No Raphael, no Rudimar.
It made me feel like there was no hope left for Chute Boxe.
But looking at Ninja's face he had this expression on him like smiling and excited thinking to himself "oh maan wait till all these people get a load of my lil brother".
Of course watching NInja dismantle the taller Overeem was amazing. He absorbed so much punishment to finally get the mount.
WHen he came out to fight Arona, and you saw that HUGE entourage that came with him, I was touched. IT was sorta like "Chute Boxe's last hope" kind of feeling. Watching Wanderlei off to the side supporting his man was also a big emotional thing for me. And when he began fighting Arona i was scared because I felt Arona would just dominate him. But low and behold, Shogun had an answer for all of Arona's ground attacks, dominating him with submission attempts, passing the gaurd, it was soo impressive.
Then the KO was beautiful. Sweet sweet revenge. I had to repeat play it atleast 8 times, and did it again in slo-mo.
Such poetic justice.
Oh, and mma tracker is up, b ut it's under a different address. Cuz some idiot posted the original address onto a public forum.

we should talk about who we'd like to see fight each other! oh if only these fights would happen...
here's my 2 cents...
for heavyweights, i'd like to see crocop vs emilianenko again later on. reason being is that fedor has said crocop was the most challenging fight he's had so far. crocop pretty much got tired after the 1st round...if he changed his training to endure more than 30 mins of fighting then there would be a possibility that he could beat fedor.
and again for heavyweights..i'd really love to see fedor vs his old teammate sergei kharitonov. kharitonov i think has the possibility to excel in PRIDE. he's a pretty tallented fighter...a bit underrated actually. let's see how he does in the future...but if anything, i think he could be a good match for fedor.
and yet again for heavyweights...i'd like to see fedor vs arlovski. reason being although i respect arlovski for being a good UFC fighter, i think he'd get his ass whooped by fedor. i'd just like to see the asswhoopin
light heavyweights...waderlei vs rua, would they have too much respect for each other being team mates?
chuck liddel vs quinton jackson again...so the rumour has it jackson might fight in the UFC...if this is the case i'd like to see how his training with team punishment is coming along and i'd like to see him tko liddel again
(ok it's late and i'm typing too much...just names for now)
middleweights...phil baroni vs rich franklin, ryo chonan vs phil baroni
welterweights...rematch between georges st pierre and matt hughes...i like st pierre he's an awesome fighter
lightweights...rematch between gomi and joakhim hansen...i really believe hansen is going to become PRIDE lightweight champ, although i like takanori gomi i wanna see him get his asswhooped at least once

CroCop has said he will set another path ahead of himself in the MMA world towards the second chance of fighting Fedor, with the three main obstacles being Hunt, Barnett, and Nog. [Possibly Kharitonov, but rumors has it that he may be going to K-1]
So he may or may not ever really get a second chance - those are tough contenders for the belt.
And I'd also like to see Aleksander in a rematch with CroCop. Maybe now Aleks learned a thing or two, watching his brother handling it like a pro.
And btw, I think Fedor would still stop CroCop every time. Keep in mind, folks, that Fedor basically beat CroCop in a HANDICAP match - he didn't/couldn't use his mean right punch in his GnPing and such. He fought with ONE left hand/punching capability - and imagine if he were able to use that deadly right hand of his. That would surely have made a world of a difference in his GnPing that fight, and some people tend to overlook that, and instead claim that CroCop's ground defense was just too good for Fedor - not that it wasn't good at all, of course... Both fighters fought pretty well. I think Fedor would just come out on top each time, though. You could tell CroCop was finally intimidated now that he was in the ring with Fedor. Fedor just has that much presence... And during the fight, it must've disheartened CroCop to give his solid strikes to Fedor's face, liver kicks and swift kick to his head, and to have Fedor go through it like he was unfazed.. That surely didn't bode well for CroCop's confidence, as he realized what kind of man he was dealing with. Anyway, Fedor won't be fighting for a long time now, as he has to have immediate surgery on his hand for it to heal properly.
In the HW division, I'd love to see Andrei Arlovski come to Pride and take a shot at Fedor. I think this fight would be pretty damn good, actually - Arlovski is a man to be feared. Honestly, at the moment, I can't think of any other real threat to Fedor in Pride's HW division. Maybe... MAYBE Kharitinov, but I just don't see that going the distance.
I'd also like to see Hunt and Tank go at it - if Tank still decides to stick around. I'm sure Hunt would have the advantage - but if they both decide to stand-up, then it's a fight to enjoy.
I'd love to see Chuck fight either Wandy or Shogun... That would determine WHO is truly the No. 1 at 205 in the world. I wouldn't mind seeing Rampage in UFC - I think he'd have alot more success there.
Rickson vs Silva [Haha, I know]
And actually, a rematch between Silva and Arona, seriously. Arona may have won that fight, but he didn't "Beat" Silva. I'm sure he won because Wandy was falling asleep while Arona took a nap on top of him. Har har.
Liquid, I want to hear your in-depth expert analysis of the Fedor vs CroCop fight, as well.

Well, Fedor vs Cro Cop was amazing, although the factors which came into play were pretty much as predicted.
It was amazing to see Fedor standing with Cro Cop and pushing the action. He even threw a high kick!!! I was very surprised to see Fedor so boldy pursuing Cro COp.
I must say the first round was the best. I feel that Cro Cop was definitely giving Fedor a good beating on occasion. But Fedor is Fedor. Is he simply unhuman and that is the only logical explanation.
He doesn't feel pain. He doesn't get tired. And he won't stop untill he's got you on the ground and has beat you into the canvas.
Although I was also very impressed with Cro Cop's gaurd. He was basically able to absorb Fedor's attempts at a full mount and defended very well against the best GnP in the game. But Fedor is without a doubt, the top ranked heavyweight in the Country.
As for upcoming matches, just within Pride there is so much to choose from.
I'd like to see Sergei take on Cro Cop, or Josh Barnett take on Cro Cop (this is more likley, Sakikabara signed Barnett in October and said he wants to see a rematch of Pride 28).
I think Barnett wil definitely shake up the heavyweight rankings. He's probably the most tactically sound HW the UFC has ever seen.
Pedro Rizzo is also in the mix. I'd like to see Rizzo get a tune up fight, maybe against Werdum or Hunt. I think MArk Hunt definitely needs more exposure in Pride, he was very impressive against Wanderlei at the New Years show.
Also, I want to see Rulon Gardner fight again. I think he has alot of potential as a heavyweight and he'll definitely draw in more American Fans. Maybe pit him up against Nogeira.
Either way, if they choose to have another HW grand prix, it could have the potential to be NUTS.
Personally, I feel that the UFC just isn't near the same level as Pride in terms of the quality of fighters. Just because they've always gotten rid of their most dominant Champions, and simply cutting their top level fighters really deteriorates the competition field.
I.e. Frank Shamrock, BJ Penn, Murilo Bustamante, Jens Pulver. These were all champions when they were cut from UFC contracts.
I just think Chuck wouldn't be able to Handle Wanderlei, let alone Quinton Jackson, or even Arona. And Shogun would absolutely obliterate him.
I think Pride should bring back QUinton Jackson, he was just such a unique fighter with an original style. I want Quinton to fight Arona again, or have him fight Vitor Belfort.
I also want to see Wanderlei get a rematch with Vitor Belfort, just to shut up all those UFC fans who hang this one victory over their heads. Wanderlei even said himself that he wants to avenge his KO loss to Vitor.
I think the upcoming Bushido tournament is going to be NUTS. I'm far more interested in the lightweight tourney than the welterweight (MW) tourney. At MW I think Dan Henderson is going to win it all.
Although the LW tourney by far has the potential to have THEE BEST LW's in the world. I mean they've already recruited two of the top 3 SHOOTO fighters (Kawajiri and Hansen) along with Gomi, and Yves Edwards, the top ranked LW from the UFC, and Jens Pulver, the previous title holder in the UFC.
Supposedly Gomi is going to fight Kawajiri in the first round of that GP, which would be INSANE. I think the finals will be Yves Edwards vs Gomi. I personally don't know much about Hansen although his fight against Imamura was very VERY impressive. So many question marks to be answered...
