If you look at the current pics, you'll see my 2nd flush is pinning. It's not quite as even, and I think it's because of how I patched. I just patched the spots that I pulled from, and sprinkled lightly over those spots I didn't pull from (but not enough to cover them up). Should I have covered the whole surface ?

When I used to do cakes I would dunk & roll after every flush, but with casings I just patch where I pull.
Some people like to go ahead and add a light casing layer again, and let it colonize for a bit, then fruit like a brand new casing, what ever floats your boat.
Now it's on to bulk for you!
Good job.

That's all folks! I'll still flush this as much as I can, but I'm getting too busy now to keep taking pics... and I think I've got enough here for those who want to see some detailed pics of a first time casing. Thanks for all the help!

You'll get a bigger 2nd and 3rd flush if you don't let the mushrooms spore on your casing.

No nice way to say it. You're an idiot. How do spores stall growth in anyway?
Great job man

That's what my scale said. Maybe it's time to re-calibrate it.

There's more water than mass by 2%...
So logically you can't dry it out and have that much more.
But yeah, nice thread man

I just recalibrated and re-weighed and it came out the same (dry). Isn't there some fluctuations between batches as far as water ratio goes? or is it all basically the same between batches and between strains. Also, I have the air flow in my PMP pointed straight at the casing... so maybe they were already somewhat de-hydrated when I weighed them wet?
