Anyone registered on the Dark Underbelly forums probably received one or both of the following e-mails. While appearing authentic, they fortunately are a scam. None of the administrators are facing any legal action and at the moment we have no reason to believe any accounts were compromised on this site or TDUB. However, please check back for more details as we uncover them. At any rate, it's not necessary to burn your computer or move to Mexico. Sorry for the scare!

First let me say that I have nothing to do with the attacks, nor anything to do with what happened at TDUB. The admins here have shown zero proof either way, it's all speculation on the part of the people who don't like me here. I've been a regular user of this site since '99, I've made many friends here who I still speak with, and I will continue to visit this site until I feel like leaving. I've contributed more to this site than 98% of the people here, yet I get zero credit for that. I had the SWAT team raid my apartment when I lived in PHX because of a pissed off Shroomerite. I had fully automatic rifles with laser sights pointed at my head. Did any admin here offer to help out legally when this happened? Fuck no they didn't. The people who are talking shit about me have been here for less than a year and don't know even 10% of the whole story.
In a way I feel bad that the site is being attacked, because I sure wouldn't want it to happen to me.. but I also somewhat don't feel bad, due to the things that a few admins here did to me.

If you think I'm jealous of the Shroomery, then you have a thing or two to learn. Sure my site is small, but it will grow... however the Shroomery is TOO large. Posts get buried quickly and there are an abundance of idiots running around... something I can do without.

Then lets talk about Thor, Ythan, geokills, papaver, matts, Vampire999 and Anno conspiring behind my back, accessing my personal email account, my personal accounts at different sites, hiring Vampire999 to break into the server to take the data, etc. Is that morally right? or do you just look the other way because they are your friends?
Vampire999 allows mndfreeze to kick/ban me from chat anytime he feels like it, and he also allows mndfreeze to give out my home Ip address, and requests that people DDOS it. But of course you wouldn't know about that because you'd rather stay blind to the facts, since you are mad at me for something I didn't do.

Yes I started my own venture, so that I could help pay off the Shroomery's old hosting contract, which I am still stuck with until August. I in no way tried to lure away moderators or seasoned members, but if they want to moderate/visit my site aswell and/or leave this site, more power to them. They are allowed to do that, as this is a somewhat free country. Maybe they come to my site since it is a breath of fresh air. Not a crowded place such as this. Most of the great cultivators/moderators/admins here leave because they get fed up with this place for one reason or another.

I used a few worthy posts from this site at mine, but so does every other website in the OMC. Shroomery itself has used countless articles from other sites... so what is your point? There are many scripts you use here every single day that were written, at least in part, by myself. Should I get my panties in a wad because the current admins are still using them?

Just chiming in to confirm that the administration here does not have conclusive evidence that 3D is directly or indirectly involved and that it is plausible that 3D may have been used as a scapegoat in this situation.

I sure hope so. Whomever is doing this is a complete nut. To continually attack our community for reasons unbeknownst is illogical - afterall how can we make amends if we don't know what their problem is in the first place? The administration and entire staff here at the Shroomery make consistent efforts to ensure this community is managed in a decent and non-abusive manner - not to mention we're a very unique site in that we have the power to shed light upon the radically distorted views laid upon mushrooms, which many people in the United States firmly believe. Why would someone want to hinder this goal? If whomever is responsible is reading this right now, why don't you send me a PM and let me in.

OK maybe I speak a bit out of line here, because I don't really keep myself updated on these sort of disputes, but allow me just to share my ideas about all of this.
People fuck up sometimes. People do stupid things, out of whatever haphazard reason. People also have trouble admitting wrongs that they have committed.
As well, people often find it easy to accuse somebody whom they feel has wronged them. People find it comforting to have a scapegoat. People don't want to apologize for accusing someone after they have stated the accusation.
Let's look at this - what do we have here at the Shroomery? Well, in my mind, we have a great community where people can spread information about the sacredness of mushrooms, can spread knowledge and ask for help in growing and otherwise obtaining these wonderful gifts from god (or nature or evolution or whatever you believe), and can chill out with other like-minded peoples to talk about whatever is on their mind (   ).
What exists at SacredShrooms? Well, I don't really know... I haven't really checked it out, but I would assume a quite similar place. Maybe some different faces, maybe people who got pissed with the shroomery for whatever reason, maybe people who didn't like their post disappearing in 2 hours, and maybe people who typed "magic mushrooms" into google and found the site. Basically - the same thing!
We all want to spread the love that we have experienced through mushrooms (and if you don't, then why are you here?) My proposition would be for everybody to forgive and forget everything that has happened in the past. Like water coming from a flowing river, it is gone before we even recognize it has been here. Let's look towards the future, and perhaps more importantly, to the present. Drug laws, government facism, massive amounts of misinformation, and all of these problems that plague our community today - these are things we should be worried about. Not DDOSing each other, not throwing out accusations, not bickering over shit that is far in the past. Let us recall the words Krishna once spoke to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita: "He who is able to resist the rush of desire and anger - even before he gives up his body, he is a yogin, he is the happy man."
Come on everybody... just say fuck it and let's all move on.

Honestly, what difference does innocence or guilt make? Say 3dshroom is innocent (as he may well be!)... some jackass was still DDOS attacking the site. Or say 3dshroom is guilty (as he may well be!)... some jackass was still DDOS attacking the site. By arguing back and forth and back and forth people only get pissed off, and then act in stupid ways, and cause more problems - which makes more room for argument, more ways to get pissed off, more stupid actions - you see the cyclical nature here? We need to step out of this stupid regressive cycle and move on with our lives. Both communities will be much better off!

i apologise to 3D for my accusations, backed up with no proof. i wish you well. if you say you know nothing about the attacks, fine, that's good enough for me. will you help us to stop them if you come across any information, or talk to anybody who may know more? clearly you know many of the central figures very well, and may be able to help more than you realise.
you have indeed contributed a lot, and i am sorry for my part in throwing petrol onto the blaze. getting back to the original thread title, does anyone else have any bright ideas? the shroomery is still a beautiful place.

the only good way to stop ddos attack is to buy a decent hardware firewall. its a 5K investment. maybe shroomery doesnt have the money for it or something.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but a big enough ddos can't be stopped by anything at all except for upstream providers modifying their routers. Most DDOS's get their power by flooding your whole connection. Its pretty easy to fill up a 100mbit connection or hell even a single gigabit if you have enough bots. The firewall will dump the packets and the server won't be affected, but the whole downstream will be saturated. Basically shrromery's got to get their upstream providers to filter all the packets that are spoofed and/or directed at a certian port. basically anything other then that can be flooded.
I personally have seen a 4 gigabit DDOS and there was nothing I as an admin could do but call the providers and ask them to filter the packets for me since I couldn't do it.

I just want you to admit that you allow mndfreeze to do things that you wouldn't allow others to. You allow someone with aops (a supposedly respected figure in chat) to jeopardize my safety by allowing him to post my Ip address. Stop lying to people to cover your ass (and your friend's) and tell them the truth for once.
