I am really having a hard time finding a game that will actually hold my attention. I have played all the MMORPGS besides Eve Online, and FFXI, neither of which I want to play. FFXI = level grind = bad. World of Warcraft isn't out yet, City of Heroes isn't out yet. Everquest 2 isn't out yet.
I just downloaded Soldner. Gay. No single player in the beta demo, and account creation was a sham. UT2k4 was eh..so so. Return to Castle Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory has been played to death. Good game, ready to move on.
Warcraft 3 isn't bad, but I always ended up playing custom games. Always got my ass ownt in 1v1 or team games.
I could go on like this forever, but hopefully you get the point! What the hell can I play that is GOOD! I'm tired of all these clone games. I want something cool.
1.) I don't care about graphics, but I don't want a text game.
2.) Don't care if it's retail, or some random game by some random guy who published it on some random website.
3.) No flash games =D Real games, please.
Any opinions?

Get Americas Army, it is free for download at www.americasarmy.com Best first person shooter I ever played. Realistic bullet and grenade trajectories, lots of servers, cool communty, devs work hard to get rid of cheaters, great graphics, soon updating to ragdoll physics, lots of maps to play on, etc. etc. I'm in a clan and I'm fairly addicted. I'm going to break into the top 100 in the world for the map I play pretty soon.

1v1 ladder in WC3 is where its at.....i got to level 14 solo, it is hard as hell, but fun and as addictive as crack

buy a gameboy advance or a gamecube.
very cheap and has some very good games.
But if your lookin for PC games then i might suggest to you american MCgees alice if you havnt played it already, that and ONI.

i can never ever, say enough good things about deus ex, on pc, the first one, havent played the sequel yet.

This might hold your attention for a week, or months. Cracks for it are readily available, or pay for it, fairly cheap. It seems to me that a serious amphetamine addiction would help, my reactions are far too slow.

Tribes 1 and 2 are due to be released for free download early next month. They're a bit old now, but they are two of my favourite online games.
I've heard really good things about Far Cry's single player too.

If you like RTS', then get Age of Empires and The Conquerors expansion pack.

Far Cry aint bad. Although it only took me 6 days to beat it.
The graphics are absolutely stunning. Story is kinda weak.
Most first person shooters dont hold my attention long enough for me to beat them, however I got addicted to this one and couldnt stop playing until I beat it.

I've played plenty of games in my time:
Morrowind
Dungeon Siege
Diablo II
UT2K4
Cossacks (if you're into extremely realistic RTS, this IS the game for you)
I heartily recommend them all!

For anyone who hasnt heard of it or played it, i would highly reccomend finding the warioware.inc rom (its a gameboy advance game) and play it with visual boy advance (its a really nice gba emulator) or play it on your xbox with vbax or just play it in your GBA.
Its super fun and super addictive

First and foremost, if you haven't played the original Half-Life, then you're not a real action game fan!!! I recently beat this game and even though it's like 5 years old, it still blows my mind how cool it is (graphics aren't that outdated either). I also recommend Deus Ex, but that mofo takes a long time to beat but the *excellent* story line should keep you hooked until you finally beat it. I also dig Unreal Tournament (y)

HALO is the game (the multiplayer is sick) , I have tons of games, and Halo and tetrinet are my top choices.

Worms Armageddon or Worms World Party (very similar) are awesome games, esp over the internet.

ok ok now it's time to put the lies to rest....... if we are talking about a first person shooter(for any system be it computer or xbox or ps2) than the choice is easy halo.diablo2 is a very good rp for computer warcraft, starcaft, C&C generals,a clasic is master of orion (the first one).Everquest is also very good but i refuse to pay a monthly fee like that.I liked tribes the org. but have yet to play tribes 2.good luck in your search

I second Starcraft if you havent got it yet (dont forget the expansion pack! broodwars). It recently won best game ever on gamespot i believe. Yes kids, it beat Halo, one on one.
I think this has to do with the fact that korea is obsessed with this game. I mean they have their own video game channel for fucks sake. Tournaments happen all the time. If you do get this game, make sure to download and watch some replays by the following players: AMDGrrrr..... , Yellow (korean), RainBOw, Slayers_Boxer, etc.
broodwar.com used to have the best replay archives, but the site went down i think. =(

You might as well buy the game. Its very cheap now. I think you can get the 'combo' pack (with the expansion) for like 15-30 bucks now. You'll need the CD key for battle.net anyway. This game is fuckin crack. I keep coming back to it!
Anyway, enough about that.
Try Black and White for something unique. That wastes a lot of time, single player.
You're basicaly a god, and you raise a giant 'pet', cast magic, and help the ppl in your land develop. The cool thing is, the pets grow up the way you raise them. You can be an evil god or a good one, its all up to you. Trust me, your pet will do some FUNNY SHIT.
My giant tiger would sometimes go to town, take a shit on the temple (resulting in little ppl running and screaming, especialy if the crap knocks them over)  Then he would find a sheep, throw it like a baseball somewhere random, then pick up a villager, take it back home to its den, and eat it.
One time i browsed a black and white forum, and a thread called 'funniest things your creature has done' popped up. I swear, i havent had such a good laugh in a long time.
I seriously recommend everyone give it a go, even if to just fuck around with the villagers. You yourself can pick them up with your 'hand' and toss them around. Go bowling with a rock boulder into a mass of villagers.
Ah man, the memories.
GTA3.....but everyones played that.
Xwing vs Tie Fighter is a cool space flight sim.
Etc etc.

Aliens Versus Predator 2.
I have completed this game with each character. I am a fully grown adult, but this video game is too scary for me to play alone in the dark when playing as a marine.

Heroes of Might and Magic III
turn based strategy game... really really addicting
Might and Magic VI and VII are superlative RPG's, but both of these games are extremely challenging
