Im cheap and poor,so all i did for my incubator was get a box that is big enough to hold all my jars with about an inch of clearnce around the edges.I took a piece of styrofoam about 2 inches thick that i got out of a old broken styrofoam cooler and i poked holesabout an inch in diameter all over the styrofoam.I put it in the bottom and put the jars on top, then i cut another piece of foam without holes and place it on top. Then just poke a meat thermometer through the top and close the lid,(i then cover with a towl but you dont have to).I placed the hole thing on a heating pad set on meduim and thats it.The strofoam that comes in contact with the bottom of the jars doesnt heat up at all because its so thick, but the heat comes through the holes and the top foam hold it in.Withe the heatpad on meduim, the thermometer reads 83 degrees all the time.Dont get me wrong im a newbie and its only been being used for about 15 days now,but so far so good.

Magash your incubator setting and jars definitly don't need any
commentary word...

In my home I found a way to not use any high wattage heater; what
I'm using now is a 15 W wormwheel / coil and is keeping a costant temp
of 28/29 ? C in the incubator and 25 ? C in the terrarium. Look at the
pic:

I put the incubator and the terrarium in a small cupboard, 70 cm x
130 cm x 45 cm, so that while using the sepentine / coil the temp
gets higher inside the whole "Mushi Room". By winding the heater
around the incubator I increase the temp inside it and decrease a
little the temp inside the fruitification Terr (I know it's empty,
he'll be receiving some cakes in the next days  ).

I found out that this method is really cheap (I paid the serpentine
only 20 euros) and not so complicated as the "tub in a tub" method.
Better than a heating-pad that creates hotter and colder spots.

I just made my incubator today. Its a small 1'cube foam cooler. im testing what watt light bulb to use for heat. Im wraping the bulb with foil to block all light and turn it into heat. Then I put it in a cut open 1L bottle with water for humidiication. The dam thing got up to 110F in 1/2 hour!

So i chenged it to a 25w but i didnt put it in water because i realized the socket had some cardboard in it and it was getting wet (ill swich to a cermaic one i have for the final setup) and i just came back from checking on that and it was 120F after 30min! So finaly im going to try a tiny 11w red light i have... dam this foil get the the heat out of the bulbs!

Naw, I'm not real fond of pints also. Those are the normal half pints. Just the tall ones before I found the widemouths.

My server is in a cupboard, and keeps it at a roasty toasy 86-90f.. I'm intending on adding a ventilation fan to the cupboard that will shut down when ideal temps are attained, to keep things a bit cooler. I just keep a big single rubbermaid tub in with it, with the jars inside. Seems to work pretty well, and once I have the ventilation hooked up, it will work even better .

i had the same problem but then I started using a fleece blanket and it works great. Its at about 85.5 all day and it helps speed the growth.

you dont want very much humidity dyrring incubation growth. Could start contams.

i made a temp controller.
i took apart an aquarium heater(topfin brand - assembled with screws), clipped off the heating element, soldered on the cut off plug end of an extension cord and put it back together. this part I put in the box with jars. i plugged a couple of light bulbs into the receptacle end. (Be careful you don't plug too much in. you will overload the contacts and melt them. for a anything larger than the rating of the heater, mount a relay to be powered by the contacts. this could be used as a greenhouse heater controller, etc.) i put the lightbulbs in the bottom of a plastic bin, mounted a shelf with layers of cardboard and airspace for the box to sit on to prevent direct heating from below. the box is heated by the air. a digital thermometer probe in the box lets me monitor it and adjust the heater accordingly. it works very well, and costs a lot less than a greenhouse or incubation controller.
