Hey fellers!
I know how you guys like PE pics.
We had some outstanding ones from facemelter (before he took them down). Awesome tubs, facemelter.
Haven't done PE in a while, so it is fun and exciting to see them in person again.
fully colonized tubs getting a small dose of 'direct' natural sunlight.
 developing
 first tub finishing up.
 second tub.
Have fun guys.

Looks good.
I have a PE tub with only a single pin on the first flush, hopefully he is only a scout, and there are more to come. I would be very happy if my tubs looked like yours.

Thank you for the nice comments guys.
It is nice to have a couple of tubs work out well. The last time I cultivated PE, a rat climbed into the tub and munched on the substrate! drama. My tubs sit outside in the shade so a lot of crazy stuff can happen.
A friend came to town so I was out until late ... and now it is the next morning ... so it has been a full day since the last pics. Any other variety and the tubs would be a purple mess. Now I look closely at each fruit for any sign of spore deposits and happily print the ones that have a 'dusting' of spores on their stems below the cap. I didn't see any like that in these two tubs.
  I'll call these pre-harvest pics.

Well .. I was wrong about the spores. There are plenty as evidenced by my purple finger tips when I harvested the first tub.
There are spores but the 'PE spore delivery system' must be different than other cubes .. it is obvious why the 'spore swab' is so popular with this variety.

Absolutely beautiful. What was the substrate? And those don't look cased, am I right?
I plan on doing the same grow as you in two weeks.
And did you leave the tubs outside?

Standard 'balanced diet' substrate: 35% horse manure, 35% coir, 25% vermiculite, 5% gypsum ... something like that. I don't measure. just throw in handfulls and mix it up.
Rye spawn ... I do 10 quart PC runs (nominal qts) and I think I held 2 back for G2G .. so 4 qts per tub.
Yes, tubs are outside where the temperature ranges between 70 and 85 degrees F with a constant breeze of 70% humidity. I don't mist or fan ... just set up the polyfilled holes and get out of the way and let them do their thing.
Just filled my dehydrator with , maybe, one tub's worth. I usually cut PE fruits lengthwise for drying, but didn't, due to laziness and got to go to work .. so it will be a while before I have any weights.
fun day for me. thanks guys.

How long did they take to mature from pins to harvest?
