Day Z is a zombie survival game, a mod made from ARMA 2. It is the best zombie game imo. You have to search abandoned cities for food, water, guns, ammo, and medical supplies in a gameworld easily MUCH larger than Skyrim's map.

Yea that guy in the video I posted moves way slower than me, I sprint and kill shit, this vid is more interesting:
Today I lasted to 97 zombie kills which took me probably 2 hours, ran out of ammo and had like 13 zombies on me, I ran into a store and found shotgun shells, killed a few and the zombies flanked me from behind  The game is good.

Yea the thing about dayz is it has gotten so much attention the developers of arma are working on it as well because its responsible for a surge of game downloads for them tho you gotta wonder if you can climb up ladders with a pistol yet without crashing the game...

Yea I wanted to fucking kill some guy but it wasnt his fault: I was climbing down a ladder and he climbed up it, it knocked me off the ladder and killed me lol.
They're fixing bugs fast as shit though and the weird quirks are not game breaking but it definitely has its fair share of bugs. Most annoying is zombies walking through walls near the doorways.

I played the arma2 beta and it was god awful.
This mod looks amazing though and now I have to buy the game asap

Yea it's a lot of fun but god it is only alpha so their are so many bugs. Me and my brother have gotten really good and we collected to much good shit and it deleted almost everything we had from our tent(save point.)
That's alpha though... when it reaches full build, the game will be amazing but you can't get angry over stuff like this in alpha because it's part of testing
And arma 2 vanilla sucks, play on United Operations and it's awesome, they completely overhauled the game.
edit: Lost all my shit in my tent again, hours of work gone.

Bump! Just started playing this a few days ago. I've got a couple of good weapons now, along with the 24-slot backpack, and everything I need to hunt and cook my own food in the forest. 
The only reason I really need to go to towns any more is to resupply with ammo or to hunt the most dangerous game.
This mod is totally glitchy but somehow it all comes together and makes a very charming and fun game. The permanent player death adds so much suspense and makes the items actually feel valuable since they are transient.
Unnffff so awesome! The guy who came up with it is saying that he definately wants to make a stand-alone version. A real DayZ game! Imagine the possibilities with a little more polish...

It is free when you own arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead because it's a mod, I would reccommend you purchase Arma 2: Combined Operations because it is A2 and OA together.
Yea my group of friends and I have over 8 tents, 3 vehicles, a boat and etc. We run the show on our server.

I love it, I teamed up with a group of 10+ people, we have 2 cars, atv, bicycle and 2 boats. We've murdered probably 70 people in the last week and if one of us die we hop in a vehicle and pick up our downed teammate.
You really need to get a teamspeak channel and find people to play with to reach the games' full potential.
There's still a lot of issues though, people disconnecting to avoid death is the worst imo. I was running down the north west airfield and took fire from behind, when i returned fire, he disconnected... wtf?

Sorry, I may have typed that out wrong. I haven't bought the game, but don't wanna buy arma II CO and then turn around and have to buy DayZ when it comes out as a stand alone. Ahhh I might just go put the money in the bank tomorrow and get the game. What size is the ArmA II:CO download from steam? I want to play a couple games before I go out of town.

No I have ran into 99% douche bag hackers that just kill everyone in the server but once I ran into a guy who spawned an ammo crate3 with every weapon in the game so I geared up and logged out. It's still gay though because the point of the game is to survive and gear up.
Don't buy arma2 for dayz because a standalone is in the works. If you liked arma2 I'd say it's worth it though, I play arma2 and dayz a lot.

I have not really heard much about the games, just ran into that little story, then saw this thread the next day.
I think a full fledged zombie survival simulation type game could be pretty fun.
Might have to download Arma 2 just to check out the general gameplay since the basic game is free.

well for dayz I play on a private hive, search "survival operations" in the filter. The character you play with will not transfer to other servers but we do not need to worry about hacking because we can ban people this way.
I play arma with United Operations because they use ACRE and ACE.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Day Z mod. I'm considering buying it soon. Do you think it's worth it? I have CS: GO and Dark Souls PTDE keeping me pretty entertained at the moment.

Honestly I don't know because by the end of the year their will be a stand alone dayz videogame. Donwload ARMA 2 off steam and if you enjoy it I'd say go for it because I still play ARMA 2.
Here's another video I made though, when I get out of the car and murder the guy he shot at us first that's why I said I was friendly, I don't usually do that because it's scummy.

Seeing that video makes me want to play this game even more. It looks like I could get really immersed in it. I didn't know you can steal stuff from other people's backpacks.
I think I'm going to download it when I get off work.

But its well worth it Arma 2 is so good me and a buddy have been desinging a new open ended mission where you can be either oppfor or bluefor and your taking a town full of insurgence also has tons of side missions too.
Still in alpha ( but stable!) if any of you want to check it out tomorrow send me a
