They will be allowing registration of leagues here in the next couple weeks so I figured I would go ahead and start fielding interest in this upcoming seasons Fantasy Football
I will be posting a list of people with automatic spots here in the next day or so, but most of you guys know who you are already
If you are "in," or want a spot. Go ahead and drop a line. As always when I am commish, repeat players get preference; followed by top players from 2nd league; followed by most veteran members (sports forum vets); newbies get last seating but as usual we will likely have a 2nd league running.
edit- since I was not commish last year, I am having trouble matching up teams with the correct managers. You know who you are if you are a regular, as do I. Some newbies might get some spots as I am considering expanding the league to 14 depending on how many people we get prior to mid-July

Yeah, that was odd. It was pretty clear we were it and everybody else were just opponents. Even stranger was that the chalk held through the playoffs. Playoffs can be a crap shoot but not that time. Jared Motherfucking Cook FTW!

Right on, the main league is almost full and I still need to hold spots for a couple more regulars, but there has been 2 leagues for the past 2+ seasons

Well midseasons should be in this league no matter what. He dropped out so you can get in the league after your trip to jail had everyone thinking you weren't playing. We agreed that mad would play the safe spot and I would take the first runner up position.

MadSeason will in all likelihood have a spot in main league. Only way he wouldnt is if a bunch of old vets start popping back up like OMR, Liz, Jewunit, Stein and I know I am forgetting a hand full of others off the top of my head.
I run it the same way every year, with members who have played consecutive years together getting first dibs.
Not like being in a 2nd league makes much difference, but I agree, as much will be done as possible to make a spot. Shouldnt be too difficult.

I like that we get a good group of active managers every season and there's been a consistent group playing together the past 5-6 years at least

Another week or so for before I start sending out registrations.
We will start with a 12 man league and likely have to expand to 14 when the late slackers show up.

Hey piklez whats up with your ratings?
three solid members with good reps claiming you scammed them for $50, thats not cool,.This is a community that has grown on me, made plenty of trades here, way more than what my ratings indicate. if you did get busted then you should have returned them their money. You can still do the right thing.
Also, unless you fix that issue, Im not sure I want to be in this league if you are the commissioner. With those ratings and claims, you could get banned.

Pandelic. Please fuck off. This is a thread about a free fantasy football league. It has nothing to do with real life, unless, of course, you take it that seriously, and if if that's the case, then you definitely should join a more serious league.
When KP has been commish in the past, he's done a fine job. Since you are not one of those people he has "scammed," please keep it out of this thread and take your gripes somewhere else.
All non-football related posts in this thread so default to how many boners KP has smoked at truckstops this year.

No harm done to you. In his rating he clearly accepts and agrees that
-He has no regular access to internet
-He could be facing 4 to 10 years in prison
-and he openly declares the money taken a back burner.
Now I do see this happened last year, but last year the commissioner was not KP. I'm not saying he shouldn't play, I just think we need a more reliable commissioner. One who is not facing prison time. This might actually work for KP, I'm sure he has enough to handle than being the commish of this league.

KP, just our of curiosity, can you reliably say you will be around for the whole season?
If so, I have no problem with you remanning comish.
But I would like to say, along with others, I think we need to limit to 12 teams. I really don't like the dynamic of 14 team leagues.

You did a great job last year and appreciate you stepping up for me. I wasnt 100% sure what was happening at the time either
pandelic- I have been a part of this league and had the role of commish longer than youve even been a member of this site. I can understand the problem my trade rating shows and have taken steps to resolve it and it is still be handled. This however doesnt impact my ability to run the league effectively as usual. I have never missed a football season and wont miss this one either. To ease minds' I would like supernovasky to be my co-commish

I also support this 100% with the possible exception of splitting the responsibility of sending invites. It isn't onerous at all and it would be best if only 1 guy does it just to avoid any potential confusion as to who is supposed to invite who.

A fourteen team league is overkill. Definitely keep it at twelve.

pandelic- I have been a part of this league and had the role of commish longer than youve even been a member of this site. I can understand the problem my trade rating shows and have taken steps to resolve it and it is still be handled. This however doesnt impact my ability to run the league effectively as usual. This sounds good, I guess. I think every league should have 1 commish but as long as theres someone here to manage the league if the other is absent or gets banned, ill roll with that.

KP,
I am absolutely down with being co-comish, although I'd definitely let you run with it and only step up if needed (IE something causes you to have to miss a week, you disappear for a little while, etc). If you need any help with anything too I'm here, but I'd definitely like to play a more supportive role than front and center, unless of course, I end up having to because of any unforeseen events affecting your ability to be here.
As for the size of the league, I really think this should be up for vote. My vote goes to a 12 team league. I feel like anyone who would be in the 14 teamer should go to the overflow league, which needs the active players that would be playing in this league in a 14 teamer. This will ensure that the overflow league remains just as competitive and fun as this one.

Will I be able to get in? I'm listed as 13th in line, but if someone isn't playing then that makes me #12. I'm a very active manager so you need not worry about that  Could you update the first page that shows all 12 managers that are currently in? It's a bit confusing currently.

I dont consider Tri High a vet, although he has participated the past 2 seasons
I am more thinking people like Jewunit, OMR, and Liz although they all missed last season, and I havent seen Liz or OMR around in awhile

That isn't why. Pandelic was an active member last year and they get top priority. You should be behind any returning active member. I believe there is at least one spot open because we have disapparated a troll from last year. I seem to think it was TryHard. At any rate, Pandelic did nothing to lose his spot so he definitely should be ahead of anybody new.

Btw Killer, can we make rushing td's worth 6? I am fine with the field goal stuff, its whatever... I am not used to rushing TDs worth 5 points though.
Also last year we had return yardage worth points... not many, mind you, 1 point for 25 yards, but I think it added an extra dimension to the waiver wire and drafting.

It would be easier if you just went down the list and sent the invites that way, instead of waiting for people to PM you, then PM them back. The sooner we get everyone into the league, the sooner we can get the draft order set.
I am open to discussion about the settings. I will post them up in the 1st post of this thread here in a little bit (or maybe tomorrow) and they will be open for debate/ changes.
I think changing rushing TD's back to 6 is a given, I only changed it because I really didnt like rushing TD's being worth 2 more points than a passing TD. Well, I have only been watching football since the early 90's and a TD has a value of 6 points however the hell is scored

Once we get everyone in the league we can discuss the rules.
My proposed changes to what KP has are as follows:
- Field Goals should me worth 3 points all the way through at least 40 yards. I don't think anything is special about a field goal between 30-40 yards to warrant 3.5 points. I can understand making a 40-50 3.5, and a 50+ 4 points.
- Rushing TDs should be 6 points. I think KP already expressed that this was probably the one change he was unsure about, and honestly, I've never seen a draft format with rushing TDs worth 5 points.
- What did you guys think about return yardage last year, with 1 point per 25 yards? I think it adds a nice dimension, but if people don't like it, I'm cool with that. I know right now return TDs are worth 6 points, may as well give them a little credit for the yards too

I'll recheck the rules a day before draft and pick according to the scoring strengths. Typically I don't get too into rushers but this looks like a rushers league so i'll just be sure to snag one over Aaron Rodgers this year

Other than the FG's and rushing TD scoring (which is already getting changed back), please let me know if anyone takes issue with any of the rules
super- Hell no, I absolutely hate scoring return yards. It is such a flukey stat and it makes worthless WR's all of a sudden valuable and skews the game. I would like to keep all returns out of it unless everyone has a big issue with that. As far as I know we have never scored return yards

Hahaha its cool KP. We did it last year but it was just a test. If anything I like standard rules when all else fails.
Thanks for moving the TDs back to 6 points, and as far as field goals, I just don't think they should be worth any more than 3 points all the way up to at least 50 yards, but thats just my opinion. The rushing TD was the biggest one though. Field goal kickers aren't going to win and lose games for me, at least, I hope not.
Who are we waiting on? I think I sent invites to everyone... I want a draft order, lol.

Not sure who we are waiting on but we still have 3 more that need to register.
I can tell by looking that me, you, zappa, matt, and PT are definitely registered
I agree with you about FG's and I actually reduced their point value from the default. But will look into adjusting them again
For the draft, I want you to assign everyone a number, 1 thru 12, and PM that list to either Zappa or Matt.. After you have done that, shoot me an email or respond here and I will pull numbers out of a hat.
Hopefully get draft order set by the end of the weekend

MY vote is
FG are good. Making a 50 deserves more credit. and its pretty standard in most leagues. I actually don't like having negative points for missed FG.
As for return yards, there should be points given for return yards, I have seen anywhere from 25 to 100 yards a point. I say 1 point every 50 yards if possible. No returner gets 300 yards, and if they do they deserve at least 3 points for it.
Anyways, at the end if its the scoring is the same for all, its fair game, Its cool with me

Once you finalize the rosters, yahoo sets a draft order so you know which pick you are drafting at. Might be a little easier and make more sense than having you draw numbers from a hat

Settings have been updated,
Rushing TDs are now 6 again
All FG's are worth 3, except 40-49 yards are worth 4, and 50+ are worth 5
I dont like FG's being worth 5 ever but the rarity of a 50+ yarder makes it alright I guess.
Supernova and I will work on getting a draft order posted up by the end of the weekend.
Trading of draft picks is enabled however I doubt there will be any swapping done, we'll see. Just a dynamic I thought would be interesting to include for once.

They will.
I did it last year. In Admin dashboard or whatever its called, the admin control panels, there is a setting where you can lock the draft order assigned automatically.

I will stick to drawing numbers out of a hat. It's a tradition and I am keeping with it since it makes no difference.
Hopefully we can get the last person registered over the next couple of days and get a draft order set
pandelic- return yards will no be counted. period. I am strongly against this, unless everybody has a special "kick returner," position on their roster. If enough people are open to that idea, I would see about building that into the roster.

Nah its fine, no return yards.
The one thing about drafting out of a hat is that it leaves quite a bit to trust (not that I'm saying you would mess with draft orders, KP, just I think this is the reason yahoo has the automated draft seeding available before the draft). Maybe if we did it on a google meeting room, we could watch and cheer as our names are called? haha. Hell I'm even willing to do it on camera

Alright, thanks Zap for staying alert and figuring out who we were missing
We got a couple options that I will let you guys mual over and ill list them in my order of preference
1) We give the spot to Jewunit after determining how much longer his ban is for. If it expires prior to the draft, then I would like to keep him. Maybe psilocybinjunkie can help us out with finding out his ban duration.
2) Solo_Dolo gets the spot. He appears to be next in time of active members to get a spot.
3) mtlmike90 gets the spot, has 1 year on the boards with about 600 posts.
So Jewunit or Solo_Dolo? or take a chance on the newbster

You dont need to be on the forums to be active in the league
I am sure just because he is banned on the shroomery that he hasnt stopped getting in the internet

Yeah, I am fortunate for the chance to get a top 3 player. Only problem with that is, with a top 5 pick, you have to hit. If you miss, you dont get another pick til the very end of the 2nd round and youve watched everyone else already start digging into the 2nd-tier of RB's.
Gives me an awesome crack at getting 3 solid RB's though

I have come to the conclusion that mock drafts are just about useless. Even in the first round there are idiosyncratic reaches that just won't apply to any other draft and I think a lot of the people participating are deliberately making crazy ass picks.

Plus this league has always tended to have early QB picks. Or at least it seems that way. I dont mean necessarily 1st round ones like Brady and Rodgers but get to 2nd and 3rd rounds it always seems like the QB's go ahead of their average normal picks.
I am happy with 3rd pick, there are options on the table.
With still over 2 weeks til draft, all I have really done is look through some pre-rankings and adjusted mine a bit

The league is already plenty of fun. This being your first year being a part of it, you'll see. There is a reason we have had a consistent group of 7-8 people for the last 5 years now. This is always my most enjoyable league due to active managers and the shit talking that goes down.
I dont think we've ever had more than 1 manager not be active.

I had Rice last year and he was the top producing RB. Not only was he the top producer but he was also pretty consistent. A solid contribution almost every week. He was money.

Crap, I never check the sports forum. I was in the overflow league last year and would like to play again. I stayed active the entire season but wasting my first pick on Chris Johnson killed me all season.
Anyway, if there will be an overflow league this year count me in.

You always have to expect a regression towards the mean but as far as a good bet goes Ray Rice is top shelf. No 1 picks are destined to disappoint.

I'm happy with my middle position in a catapillar draft. I almost disliked having a #1 overall pick.
As for Ray Rice, I also think he'll be solid next year, what with Vonta Leach and that defense they have.
People seem to forget, that a team with a good defense also means a team with a strong running game.

Sunday is draft day. I should be able to make it. Anyone who knows my story from Growery knows that I am now living in a halfway house and working on my sobriety. I have a 6pm curfew on weekends but I may be able to find a way to do the draft on my phone.
If not I do have my autopicks setup to draft who I want. I apologize in advance if I do miss the draft, it's looking 60/40 right now. I am pretty sure I have a freakin NA meeting at that time as well. (a required meeting)
edit- I should have set the draft for earlier in the day, but oh well. I will have to work the waiver wire and work some pre-season deals. no offense but Fantasy Football is on the backburner for a week or two until I get some shit taken care of

KP it looks like we have a problem.
People seem to be having issues with the draft time.
The thing is, I already made plans around that draft time...
We can hold it next week and you can reset the draft time, or we can roll with it... but it looks like someone in the draft wants to give up his spot, in which case, we need to find someone else to take his spot.

I realize that most people are set. Like I said, it never occurred to me that anybody would schedule a draft that ends around midnight.
Auto drafting is bullshit. You have to go with the drafting flow as it happens and adjust on the fly.
