My first successful bulk grow. Well, semi-successful... (Pics and a few questions) EVEN MORE PICS!

Okay, title is a bit misleading. I have grown bulk Oyster mushrooms many times, and I've grown one tiny bulk P. cubensis grow using straw in gallon ziplock bags, but I only got about 10 mushrooms out of that one...
So far, this is what I have going on. Six 6 quart plastic shoeboxes, 5 with horse manure, one with coir and verm, cased with 50/50 verm+peat moss, with some crushed oyster shell. One quart of colonized WBS per 6 quart container, from a multispore syringe I made from a print I took on 8/18/2007.
This one...
from this mushroom I found

Things went well with colonization, but the hpoo colonized faster than the coir. Introduced the 5 hpoo trays to fruiting conditions (indoor greenhouse) on Monday (June 4th). Apparently, I didn't have enough humidity in the FC... I couldn't find my hygrometer) and I got major side pinning and not many pins on the top of the casing layer. More on the coir in a minute.
A few pins here on the top on this one

These don't seem to be doing anything yet...

The coir was placed in another room while I started fruiting the hpoo trays. Apparently, I screwed up... It started pinning like mad on the sides, and small shrooms were growing there. I popped it out of the tray and I'm fruiting it like a giant cake/log.

Do you think those on the coir will fatten up? Think I'll get anything good out of the trays that aren't doing anything yet?
Any tips on what to do next or where to go from here?
I know how to fix the side pinning on the next grow (foil in the trays) but can I do much about it here?

Thanks! I see lots more pins on the one with a few, and even some on the ones that didn't seem to be doing much. This may turn out to be a great grow!

That wasn't even in a field. It was in a mulch bed alongside a fence, surrounding a new building. Manured mulch... get enough rain and no telling what will fruit in it. I pulled over 150 mushrooms out of that bed over the course of a month. There are threads I posted with the finds in them... go search through my posts if you're interested.

Tissue cloning on agar. A wild print represents a variety of genetics, much more than a typical domesticated print. So start isolating and growing out cultures. You could have something really good there.

Okay... more pics. These things are starting to take off. These are about 8 hours later or so.

I may not update with new pics for a bit unless something really awesome needs to be shared... unless people are enjoying watching my grow as much as I am.

I have agar-agar and potato flakes, and half pint jars (can't find quarter pint jars like it suggests in the tek). I don't have a flow hood. I have a still air box.
How likely am I to have success doing agar work with no flow hood?

A flowhood does not give extra abilities vs a glove box, it's just more comfortable. Considering I don't have a flowhood, I can say your chances of success without one are good, with practice.

Thanks for sharing...have been wanting a flowhood forever cuz I thought it would GURANTEE no contaminants...maybe ill just build a huge SAB that can hold 24 qts at a time.

Cool. Guess I should start getting agar jars ready to go so I can get some tissue cloning underway after I harvest the fruits.
Do you think plastic lids would be better for that, or the traditional metal lids?

A flowhood doesn't guarantee anything really, it's just a tool. Skill and knowledge are more important. SAB will work ok.
I like the plastic lids for agar jars, but you can use a grain lid if that's what you have.

I have both. Just don't have the plastic lids drilled or anything. Thinking of doing some kind of filter patch, but not sure if that's a necessity with agar or not. I'm trying to figure this stuff out as I go.

Came home today and things have really improved. Even had one small shroom open up...

These guys are still underachievers

No fattening up for the coir guys, but they are growing... curly. I moved them away from the perlite onto the shelf above it. Might help straighten them up.

These are still doing great. Nice pinset, if I do say so myself.

Especially this one

Guess I should do some agar jars real soon... like tomorrow. That big boy is gonna be one to clone I think.

Unless you are working in LAB conditions and taking all the necessary steps I would wear gloves and a mask when working around your spore prints. Your body is host to many microorganisms. Skin cells are a major cause of contamination.
Know your vectors of contamination. The cultivator, The Air, The media, The Tools, The Inoculum and Mobile Contam Units(insects).
I do everything I can do control them and still having 10% contam issues.
Looking good so far. Gluck!

Had to harvest a couple of these... veils were torn or caps were open, but no sporulation yet.

Also, this tub is doing WAY better than I thought any of them would. Very pleased.

Might be a stupid question, but if I'm running a cool mist and have perlite in the greenhouse, should I still be misting after the pins have formed?
I am not having any issues as of now, but I want to avoid any screw ups based on my inexperience.
