First heard about Shpongle on here back in 2001 ish. Loved it back then.

Not really feeling them so much now. Not to say they don't make amazing music. Even saw them Live in full band mode twice.

If I had one criticism of them then I guess it would be that they are too cliché psychedelic for my tastes. Kinda feel the same way about Alex Grey and a lot of the old stuff I was into. Such is life I guess.

The appeal for me largely is music that does half the tripping for you then when you combine that with hallucinogens and remote venues out in the wilderness it's a fucking hell of a party. There is a loose network of promoters, producers, and fans in various countries and the experience allows for travel and exchange of ideas facilitating friendships through the common interests of this music internationally. It would be much easier to name the countries that are not hosting a psytrance event this summer. check out mushroom magazine's summer festival guide in the April 2012 issue. It has videos and sound bits. Enjoy!

Also to give it a fair chance really takes the right atmosphere, mood and a good selection. Listening to Psytrance on a computer or headphones is a lot different than listening to it on a 14,000 watt sound system in some exotic remote location outdoors while tripping balls :prance:
