8. People with kids. Don't get us wrong: a loud, drug-fueled, overcrowded, clothing-optional sex-carnival of irresponsibility is a great place to bring a baby. If you want it to grow up in a foster home. But don't let us tell you how to raise your kid, Alicia Silverstone. We're just simple, old-fashioned people who don't regurgitate in babies' mouths.
7. Girls in leggings. We can only imagine what kind of swamp-ass nightmare is festering beneath that Spandex cameltoe. Let's get this straight: Which bygone era that you're too young to remember are you futilely attempting to resurrect here, the '60s or the '80s? Because you can't have both. You can't have either, but you especially can't have both.
6. Guys(?) in unitards - Everything we just said goes double for this creature.
5. Old guy who looks kind of lost. Last seen silently shaking his head at "girl in leggings," this grizzled Woodstock veteran and possibly either the Ben or Jerry in Ben & Jerry's is now aimlessly roaming the festival grounds, trapped in a serene but confusing fog of psychotropic drugs and dementia. He's got plenty of great stories about how crazy these things used to be. He just needs someone who'll listen, or a tree trunk that sort of looks like someone who'll listen.
4. Mud people - Congratulations on making it "back to nature," though we're not sure we remember "nature" containing so many upper-middle-class white kids sliding around on their bellies to Modest Mouse songs. Regardless, we hope you've enjoyed the friends you've made in that sludge pit, because they're your new ride home.
3. This guy. Whoever he is, whatever this is, we want no part of any of it.
2. Flashers who have no business flashing. Inherent enjoyability aside, boob-flashing of any kind is kind of a sad, pointless gesture. At best, you get a half-hearted acknowledgment of your surgical choices from a heroin-addled bass player, and the knowledge that 50,000 strangers are locking a mental image of you away for future masturbation purposes. At worst, you're this woman. For god's sake, lady, if you're going to unleash those things, point them at the mosh pit kids.
1. Passed-out bro who sleeps through the entire festival. Looks like someone pounded a few too many Natty Lights while driving his dad's SUV to Bonnaroo. He promised himself he'd keep it together for Dave Matthews Band, but that third Jagerbomb during the Jack Johnson set really put him over the edge. Sleep tight, Trey (his name is probably Trey). No one wanted you to be here anyway.

i was like this after the first night on my first festie. i guess i'm just not cut out for this festie business. i'm good for one epic night of partying. but then i need a solid day or so of peace to recover before i'm ready to destroy myself again. i struggle with the morning and afternoon recovery periods before the night time and shit.
i lost like 3 of my friends torches last festie, except luckily i managed to hang onto them untill making it back to hte campsite and lost them in various places around the campsite, so they weren't really lost. but still. its a big loss when your life line of the night has been your torch and then you lose it and cant find your way into your tent and shit. and your friends are mad because you lost their torch (three times)

Haha yea the beer prices are insane at venues. I have a specially handmade elastic "garter" with elastic loops that hold 6 airplane bottles. But yeah, there are a lotta bros there, but they generally don't bother me since they're typically in one large cluster and half of them are too busy dry humping their girlfriends. There's still plenty of chicks to go around at those shows.

Oh for sure.
Last time i saw them i was on a head full of acid. I kept staring at these lightning bolts in the background. They where moving to the rhythm of All along the watchtower  . Anyway, i kept getting weird looks from the all the Bros. I looked at them and was like "LSD! have you ever heard of it?"
Anyway, the show ended and as soon as it did, torrential downpour started going down. I got in my car and drove back north and the drive was really crazy. I was wondering why no other cars where on the road
I got home and was told that there was a bunch of tornadoes that hit the area. Go figure.

I kept one pocket empty so that I could easily access my lighter when needed but in a  frenzy kept putting the lighter in the pockets with infinite nonsense, and half of the time attempting to find my lighter was so I ended up asking people to use their lighter

i've been a wharf rat at a festival and i've also gotten spun out. both are pros and both are cons. but if you want to do a festival run and do it right you will probably want to get a few good hours of rest a night during the festival then a 'normal' routine going to the next stop
PS bassfreak -- no one with any sort of HEAD on their shoulders would go to bisco. that's like a kids playground...

Agreed. Bisco is getting to be so well-known these days. It's only a matter of time before it's the next Bonaroo. BTW Bassfreak, if Bisco is you're festi of choice, then it's you who goes to shit festivals. My favorite? Gnarnia. Heard of it? No, you most likely haven't.

Now that we got that outta the way, My favorite festival is a festival called Earthworks Harvest Gathering. Small fest here in Michigan. Probably about 500-800 people attend but those 500-800 people are very hetty. Shine gets passed around like water. If you choose to stay up all night, there is bound to be a campfire jam at one of the many firepits.

Yeah it's a fairly new festival. In fact I think last year or the year before was the first year. It's super chill. Beech Mtn. is awesome for festivals. Natural amplification and the temp is great! It's not boiling hot like Roo or any of the others in the south. I went last year. Missed it this year unfortunately.

weird thing is i can remember seeing nothing but black and i can remember hearing the splat of my face hitting the ground but i couldnt feel anything haha...i did it right where everyone was buying balloons so pretty much the whole crowd of spunions ripping tank 45 minutes after the show was over saw me...it was pretty hilarious tho

i woke up face first on the ground with a balloon next to my face and 3 random people picking me up...i say "where the fuck am i?" and then i realize i fished out...the right side of my face was completely fucked and bleeding and roadrashed and i still got a small scar from it today, good thing its not noticeable
weird thing is i can remember seeing nothing but black and i can remember hearing the splat of my face hitting the ground but i couldnt feel anything haha...i did it right where everyone was buying balloons so pretty much the whole crowd of spunions ripping tank 45 minutes after the show was over saw me...it was pretty hilarious tho

for me -- EFF will be the big one (i'm a cheese head and it's only 1.5 hrs from me)
also have a ticket to rootwire and want to get one for the werk out
wouldn't mind doing 1-2 no named ones in michigan like the Bus Stop and Buttermilk Jamboree.

Ive never fished out
Though last summer i brought a tank to a UMP show. Everyone was surprised to see it. I gave one dude a nice size balloon and he fished out real bad. He fell right down and cracked his head on the pavement. I felt so bad. Now, the tank will stay home and off the lot.

I'm going to the Impulse Music and Arts festival in Union Point, Ga which is jamtronica/edm based with Papadosio, EOTO, Zoogma, Emancipator, and Minnesota headlining. Then hopefully in the fall I'm going to the Counterpoint Festival in Altanta.

Anybody ever had the pleasure to meet the old guy Mark from Cincinnati, drives a red Miata, his dad use to own a funeral home, but when his dad died he turned it into a flower shop and he's going to a show at the ledges and you should come, he's got some Coney sauce and a pizza maker in his car but he needs some bread and does anyone know where he can get $3000 worth of crack?
lol You'd know him if you met him. Nice guy. Kinda ate up/shot out. We saved him from some bully that was going to beat him up at Legend Valley Hookahville one spring. He ended up following us home and wouldn't leave for weeks. Kept scaring off all the girls asking if they had any bread.

Yeah it can be frustrating. I started lurking here a decade ago, and learned a whole lot by being open & humble. I was raised to respect my elders, and that paid off. I've been seeing a fair amount of arrogence & trolling from some of the newer members lately, and it's gotten the best of me. This community means a lot to me.

I love the shroomery. I first stumbled onto this place when I was in my early 20's researching the PF tek. I've yet to begin my first grow. I've been taking notes and reading threads off and on for five years or so (my monotub is built as of last week, just saving money for spores, being unemployed with child support and bills to pay suckssssss). Like you, I've noticed a big surge in know it all, antagonistic, downright ignorant people trolling the board the last few years.
But it's okay. I'm here now, mainlining every decently good vibe I can muster into the Shroomery community. lol
