Great to see the VIC 2012 thread in action. I should have waited for this instead of making my own thread the other day but i do need some help with a little matter. P.subs vs liberty cap growing conditions

Very dry. Anyone finding mushrooms is a liar.

lol sorry about rule breaking, got a bit excited.
Went out to some confidential locations today and found inactives... no flushes of anything. Great experiences back in the wild there though.

Jeez... 2 pages and no shrooms. Maybe another Vic/Melbourne PHOTOS ONLY thread should be started. This shit belongs in the pub.

Um, there is pictures in the 1st page. Get out there and take some. The subs I ate on Thurs night were very tasty. Been a bit dry so unless you can get to higher altitude I'd say you won't be finding any yet.

G'day all. Personally I think it's way too dry, warm and a little early.
Been doing a fair bit of trail riding and not finding anything other than Amanitas...

When for a nice stroll out today with no such luck. Thinking maybe the end of the week might be the go after the rains and cooler weather Like tbd192223 said. Heaps of inactives out though. It was still fun out there looking..

I also went for a walk this morning with my heeler and trusty camera but had no luck .. not even inactive ones
I hate talking about the weather but need some more rain
Mod edit:
5. Do not make threads or posts discussing or reporting the weather. This includes complaining about the weather, asking if the current weather is "good for shrooms", or how long to wait after rain fall to go hunting. As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 1-10 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, and the time of year is correct then it is very likely that the mushroom you are looking for is growing.

I found my first P.subs of the season on the 11 of April last year. I went for a hunt to some of my local spots in suburban Melbourne and no such luck. One of the spots had many inactives which was nice to see. No Strophs as of yet though.

Had a good look around my usual spots in SE melbourne, still only inactives around. The council has put down some heavy mulch on some patches, anyone know the effect that will have on the establishment of mycelia and the production of fruiting bodies this season? Happy hunting

Real excited for this years harvest. Been hunting for a few years now but really upped my education over the summer, read a handful of books to not only further educate myself on identification, but also for taking these plant teachers for the sole purpose of self-education and further spiritual and mental development.
However it's still too early in the season fellas, hold your horses. Granted some places might be starting to fruit, but we still have a good 3 weeks before it kicks in fully. I took a walk yesterday, found a few inactives, but a minimum amount at that. Not too long though, I can feel them starting to wake up!
As for a user's question further up concerning the council adding mulch to spots, yes it can screw with the mycelia and growth of the mushrooms. Here's hoping the amount they've added isn't too much so the little guys can still get out there once the fruiting starts.
Not too long guys! We've all been waiting for a long time and fairly soon we'll be rewarded for our patience.

Out my way temps are getting bloody cold, heaps and heaps of mushrooms (no subs yet) are popping up, seen literally hundreds of Amantias and little milk caps / pine mushrooms.
I'd wait further for the frost, the nights are getting chilly, but we need some cold miserable wet days before anything too exciting happens

went to a well known patch this eve. Saw 2 others looking for mushies and had a chat with one guy from NT. Friend recomended he go there but we both found nothing but milk tops which had been ripped out of he ground and scattered everywhere. Didn't see amanita's cause there's usually heaps of them there. Guess we'll all have to wait
