Yup that appears to be them, just reading they are bioluminescent, I might have to make a night trip and see if I can find them again.
It appears to be a good match for the "variant b" on this. http://springbrook.info/research/luminous_spp.htm
Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Day 2.
Much more enjoyable and lots of things I've not seen before.
Boletus sp.

Boletus sp. 2 Possibly just an older specimen of the first, fairly confident it was different however.

Amanita sp.

Lichenomphalia umbellifera.

Another curious Boletus.

Phylloporus sp. I initially thought P.rhodoxanthus. but they have a yellow stipe so I am a bit stumped atm.

...and something else to add to the list of weird shit found while mushroom hunting.
Random skull.

Will try and work out some more specific ID's later if anyone has any suggestions bring 'em on.
Happy hunting folks

Awesome finds!
I think 1 and 2 are the same species. I'd call them Boletellus ananiceps
The other bolete looks like it's infected with something maybe Hypomyces chrysospermus?
4 is Lichenomphalia chromacea

Hmmm wierd I first thought Lichenomphalia chromacea, but they were more orange then yellow. Maybe it's just cause they were younger.
I thought the Bolete was infected with something but there were heaps of them that all looked the same so then I got muddled up.

Thanks RD! I am somewhat of a seasonal photographer so they should improve as the mushroom season picks up pace.

Yup started shooting in RAW a little while back and it makes a huge difference, paticularily being able to correct white balance problems after the shot has been taken.

Great stuff, Stopwhispering. Those Amanita buttons are sweet. That Boletellus looks like it wants to be an Amanita. Nice finds!

Hmmm I had a suggestion of Boletellus dissiliens for the first one on MO, this seems to be a better fit from what I can find online, information seems a little limited though. (or I am not looking in the right places.)
Perhaps the first is B. dissiliens and the second B. ananiceps, what do you think?

@ Bob I actually thought of your "Amanita city" post when I saw those buttons.

The spores will tell you straight away whether they are B. ananiceps. Otherwise the descriptions of B. ananiceps and B. dissiliens that I can find are very similar and I'm not sure how to separate them macroscopically.
I think the key may be their distribution - B. ananiceps was described from Victoria and presumably occurs in Southern Australia - B. dissiliens was described from Singapore and presumably occurs in Northern Australia.

Hmmmm I thought this would end up being the case, I really need to invest in a scope and start collecting samples when I go out.

This sounds like pretty fair logic, I also wouldn't imagine it would be highly likely to find both so close together even if they were both found in Vic.
Cheers for the help as always Timmi.
