I watch quite a few british shows and have some friends from the UK with very thick accents, so I don't have much of a problem understanding the accent.
But personally I think the british version of Shameless doesn't hold a fucking candle to the US one. US is so much more awesome. It's my favorite show right now.

Just watched a clip of said show. Wasn't that hard to understand. Come on man, get it together.
Sometimes when Scottish people talk really fast, it almost sounds like I am not an Anglophone and think this what English speakers must sound to those who don't know the language. This show you mentioned isn't hard to understand.

I need to watch that movie again. Spud on speed, LOL. Wouldn't have been the same good movie set anywhere else, I believe.
Interviewer: Did you lie on your application? Spud: No! Uh. Yes. Only to get my foot in the door. Showing initiative and that like. Interviewer: But you were referred here by the department of employment, there was no need for you to get your "foot in the door," as you put it. Spud: Ehhh... cool. Whatever you say, I'm sorry. You're the man. The dude in the chair.

BTW, have you ever tried reading the book? If you think Spud is hard to understand in the movie, you won't last 2 pages in that book.
Personally I understood almost everything and have seen the movie enough times to pick up on things I've missed, but the whole book is written in Cockney Scottish slang. It's extremely fucking hard to read.

Hahahah, well he didn't want the job so it was great interview for him. I love the ending, and Renton's optimistic walk with the voice over.

Really? No, I haven't but yhat's interesting. I did however hear in passing that Spud is not paid at the end of the book, and Iriving waits until the next book for Renton to pay Spud his share.
Is that true? The movie ending is perfect.

Oh, you mean Manhattan Beach, California. I'm on east coast so, I thought "Manhattan surfers, what the fuck?" When I hear Manhattan, I think New York.
A surfer accent, I wouldn't want to read that.

No idea, I could only get about 20 pages in before my brain started bleeding.

I understand shameless enough to know it's a rehashing of brookside but with mancunians instead of the filthy thieving scousers what kept nicking channel 4's cameras and such.
Also, angry boys is shit. If you want a good Ozzy comedy, watch Housos. It's like Trail park boys, but wheras TPB is like a smooth hit of weed from the bong, Housos is a raw onion. Punchy and funny as fuck.

I'm watching more of it, and it's understandable. I think it was just s05e01 that had all that colloquial twilly tally hos.
