My friend tried to by eating 42 kpins after his break up.
Ended up in the hospital for a week or two
Somehow he's alive.

That's pretty pathetic, but I do remember reading a chart once that placed relationship difficulties up there for causes of suicide so...
#1 Was financial troubles, I believe.

Yes.
It was a guy who had just broken up with his girlfriend. He walked to his truck from the bar and shot himself in the head with a shotgun. Ironically, it was on the exact same day that his father had committed suicide years before. He was my neighbor across the street back in high school.

A close friend of mine tried committing suicide last year around this time over a girl. He took 4 whole boxes of the cough medicine 'Triple C's' and didnt die because he puked it all up. But he was very fucked up and out of it at the hospital. No i dont think its romantic its fucking dumb.

People in my town have off'd themselves for some stupid reasons but break ups are not one of them. About 4 years ago a 20 year old dude shot himself after he got his 3rd MIP for alcohol.

I totally forgot about this kid at my high school who tried to kill himself over a girl. He found a gun and tried to shoot himself in the head but only managed to blow both his eyes out. Now he does suicide prevention speeches and stuff.

A friend of mine had been dealing with a lot of problems over the course of a year (getting kicked out of his house, police, people robbed him) and he had been dating this girl who was very immature and young. He had been doing lots of opiates, lots of e on the weekend and had been taking steroids and working out a lot.
All these factors add together then one night they had a medium sized fight and she told him to leave, he went home and blew his brains all over the ceiling with a pistol

I would take a large dose of opiates and DXM. Make sure noone will find me and spend my last hour in bliss. Painless. Wont even know it happened.

I don't know anybody that kill themselves over a failed relationship.
I don't think I could kill myself either over a failed relationship. Even though I am prone to depression I don,t think I'll ever love someone enough to end my life if she leaves me.
Although I have to admit that if my mother died suddenly I would seriously be fucked for a long time. I would think of suicide for sure. We're close.

when i was little, a woman (next door neighbor) was cheating on her husband, one day we heard a shot go off, ran outside.. the husband was laying in the ground with his brains scattered all over. the lover is the one that killed him.. i still remember like it was yesterday, the dude with half his brains blown off was still alive and from where i was standing it looked like he was trying to get up but obviously couldnt.
not so much suicide over a girl, but i guess it sorta falls in the same-ish category.

My sis in law was prescribed like 150 1 mg klonopins and to get attention or something took like 15 and then posted on facebook she was attempting suicide. Her coworker got nervous when she wasn't at work so she called police and told them about her facebook post.
So the broke into her house took her to the hospital blah blah blah, and I think even the nurse at the hospital said you can't overdose on klonopin.

A kid in high school blew his brains out after a break up, I didnt know the kid but saw him everyday. I never really got a full story of the whole thing but I think his little brother was the first to find him

Yeah, My friend killed himself his senior year in high school after he found out his girlfriend was cheating on him.
It was fucked up. He was an awesome person and a really promising skater. His parent's ended up moving away and my friend that dropped Josh off at his house after talking with him and thinking that Josh would be ok, that friend still feels guilty about the whole thing.
Really Really Sucks

I had a psycho ex g/f
who after we broke up
went on a cocaine bender
and ended up OD'ing.
It was more then an accidental
OD, she was so disstraught
and could not handle not having
me anymore.

THEN about 2 years ago another buddy of mine found out his wife was cheating on him. Ate a bunch of pills and also didnt die.

I know of two people I went to school with that killed themselves directly after breakups.
And last year a guy that rapidly becoming one of my best friends hung himself after his gf broke up with him. That was just the tipping point though. He was a recovering heroin addict that had just started using again and was facing charges from the year before when he was in active addiction and a girl OD'ed in his house. He had no idea because he had gone to sleep earlier, but his roommate had people over and they were slamming speedballs all night. He got woken up by the cops and paramedics banging on his door and was facing heroin possession charges and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance because they found an old Ruger 10/22 in his closet that he hadn't touched in years.
So the breakup wasn't the complete reason he killed himself, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

I dunno OP.
I've been going back and fourth with my now Fiance since 9th grade.
We've been through hell and back. She's the only one EVER I have felt 100% comfortable with. She knows everything about me, and I know everything about her ( as far as I know )
We live together, have lived together for the past 8 months. Before that she was at my place pretty much every night.
She's seen me cry, and has been there to comfort me, and vice versa.
She puts up with my shit, and I put up with hers.
I don't think there is anyone else out there that would deal with me. It's pretty fuckin' nuts how we fit together so perfect.
If she left me, I don't think I'd have any reasons left.
She told me once... "If we ever fall out of love or don't make it forever, I promise I'll never leave your side... we can even share the same bed if you'd like."
but if that were to happen where we fell through, and she left left me, I'd probably off myself.
but we have this song together, it keeps us strong..

THEN about 2 years ago another buddy of mine found out his wife was cheating on him. Ate a bunch of pills and also didnt die.
Huh. Who would have thought it was so fucking hard to kill yourself?
A dude going to my school tried to kill himself twice. Get this:
attempt one: tried to strangle himself
attempt two: took an overdose of aspirine.
Lamest attempts ever. He deserved to die.

A really good friend of mine from high school stepped in front of a train and killed himself while is girl was breaking up with him on the phone. He made her listen to him do it. He was drunk and the train tracks was right behind the bar.
It was a very emotional funeral because he was young.

a friend of a friend of a friend was a dumb skinhead, about thirty years old and he hanged himself after the woman he loved chose someone else over him. he hanged himself in the hallway outside her apartment so he dangled in front of her door in the morning.

I'll probably off myself eventually. Not for dumb reasons like a break up or something though. I'm 22 now. If life doesn't improve by the time I'm 30 then I see no point in continuing life. I think committing suicide is something you should never do impulsively. Think that shit over in your head. Then decide from there.
I think that thanks to scientific progress that maybe my life will improve somehow eventually. That's what keeps me going. I mean I just read today that by the end of 2012 google will be releasing "smart" glasses that you interact with in real time. Imagine where we'll be in just a few more years. Then imagine 50 years from now.
