You may be right, the stipe texture puts me off. Maybe it could be Agrocybe, but I don't think that's correct I'm curious to know!

I went for a nice drive today, Ive found two places that I'm gonna go search this week.. fingers crossed it will be fruitful. Anyway today I went for a lovely walk enjoying the fresh air and beautiful nature and I stumbled across 4 different species (inactives) yet sorry I didn't get any pics of them. One species had a red cap with orange stem. About 4cm tall, cap 1.5cm-2cm wide. Anyone know what it may be? Then i found these white-fleshed ones that had a pruple-pink tinge to the cap and gills. Cap about size of 50c coin, some bigger. Hmmm. Ive never seen this before. I also done my usual Acacia sightings.

I will try to get pics of what I find on my next hunt. Im gonna search som eplaces that I've never been before and its a quite hard place to get to. I know that subs grow where there are pines, but I'm curious as to whether they are also promising amongst bracken ferns?

I hope all you guys have a GREAT weekend!!

It really could be many things without more details / pics. At a guess it might be something like Hygrocybe miniata, which is not uncommon.

Don't know sorry, would need further info / pics.

In my experience I have not found subs directly near bracken ferns, but they may grow in the same overall area.
Good luck!

Sorry my descriptions are pretty vague, I understand that it's near-impossible to work out what they are without a photo. Hopefully i get some photos when I go next hey. By the way, I was blown away when I found out that Amanita Muscaria actually grows here in SA! Wicked! If I ever stumbled across an Amanita it would blow my mind.... Ive always wanted to see one in real life. They have a certain allure to them what with the brlliant red. And I love how I can go trekking through the wilderness away from noisy society... and end up walking for hours and hours loosing track of time enjoying myself and feeling so alive.

i always look for bracken ferns, especially if they are growing amongst Eucs or pine trees. there is most definitely a connection between Subaeruginosa and bracken ferns

It seems my patches have gone to rest up for next season. The only thing flushing is my poker hand. Haha! Thats called a bluff! I have a pair of 2's! :-(...... Went for a hunt today, and they were very dry and only here and there. But, I found a whole heap hiding in a nice wet little bracken fern. They seem to love bracken. It's a bloody good place to hide, cos it cuts my fingers up like anything. Good season lads and ladies. Cheers for all the help on ID's and info. See you all next year.

My guess is laccaria fraterna. In any case there are no actives in your pics. There are still subs around but they are few and far between this time of year.

went for a leisure walk in the hills... found lots of inactives but also unfortunately I came across a few certain sites which were obvious people had been there...as i found two discarded syringes laying in the grass... fucking disgusting!!!! what is it about certain dickheads who litter in the wild along with empty beer cans... anyone witnessed this shit? sorry but it pisses me off. some people have no respect....
