I have always thought that int he event of global thermonuclear war it would be funny if one side purposefully fucked up and nuked all the arable land of the enemy in lieu of military/industrial/urban complex. In addition to the horror of all the half-melted people living near the fringes of the blasts, hundreds of millions would be left starving and hegemony would completely dissolve into a dark age of cannibalism and war over iodine supplies used to protect from radioactive poison.

That's called Scorched Earth Policy, and is a very old military tactic.

Like sophist mentioned, fast food is subsidized food and every calorie we eat contains 10+ calories used in its production and (especially) transportation.

Eating local and organic and sustainably is far cheaper in the long run.

Dollar burgers sure sound cheap, that is until they evaporate due to non-sustainable farming and animal husbandry practices.

Not to mention the suffering that is consumed when you eat foods that are produced with "the bottom line" in mind.

Really?  Eating cows that live standing up ankle-high in their own feces and urine?  Eating chickens or eggs from chickens that are battery-caged and receive no light for 90+% of their lives?

That kind of behavior is incalculably expensive.

There needs to be an anti-monsanto advocacy group that brings this shit to the forefront of the public eye.

there are anti-monsanto advocacy groups but they're focusing on getting
wealthy, some are asking non-GMO producers to pay a registration fee, testing
fees and membership fees in order to be listed on their websites. others take
donations and send out news letters while paying themselves loads of cash

I don't see how you could fight Monsanto without having a ton of cash or being a farmer. Those products are completely ubiquitous and they have an army of lawyers and the army backing them up. Any political action against them would need to be extremely well-funded or extremely well-organized...

It could certainly be possible with the Internet.

I'm a farmer, I dont have the kind of money it would take to fight monsanto

I dont have the money to fight a chicken in small claims court

All I really meant is that it's easier for you to boycott them than for most.

I know these things. I am using the level of general ignorance (most people do not realize these things) to illustrate why you will never organize a comprehensive, effective boycott of Monsanto.

the chicken is demanding reparations for all the eggs I'm stealing

all you have to do is call the companies who's crap you purchase and ask
them if they use GMO grains and shit, then thank them for their time and
let them know you'll no longer be needing their products. you'll probably
get coupons for free stuff but you can also spread the word and ask others
to do the same... a few hundred thousand calls and these companies will
change but all of it starts with you

Also:

A boycott will not work on Monsanto. Their products are too necessary and too widespread. Despite their evil, GMO's are actually massively effective at improving yields.

untrue, some crops the yields are moderately better, most are on par with any
other crop and some are lower. you've got the monsanto version of truth
