First tray. WBR>50/50 coir/verm

This is a tray i made using whole brown rice as spawn to 50/50 coco/verm substrate.
I MIXED the grains and substrate and DID NOT top it off with a layer of substrate(which I think is why I'm getting this myc)

Here are some pictures at 4 days after spawn:
2:1 Ratio

Bottom:

Top:

I found this picture and see how the myc looks at the bottom of the fruit? Well thats how it looks but ALL over. btw that is NOT my picture

The top myc looks very fluffy, but like I stated, i did NOT layer the top with substrate, there were exposed grains.
Edit: I forgot to mention that I took a wiff and it had a mushroom smell (very light smell)

Turban, they are doing extremely well, I remember 2 weeks back I was experimenting and now I think I have found my grain of choice :smile:

Well, I put this bad boy in the fruiting chamber about 15 minutes ago:

I drew the excess water that pooled with a syringe, and will do so as needed when I mist/fan.

Does this look too wet? It has water droplets sitting on top..

If it is(which I think it is) would covering it when misting the cakes work? then just fan along with the cakes? Maybe only spray it when it looks "dry-ish"?

I think if it was too wet it woudn't be so nice and thick :shrug:

Seems quite optimal, I'd leave it like that.

The droplets should be ok as long as they are able to evaporate between misting.

that is very healthy mycelium my friend you should be proud, you will know cobweb when you see it trust me its unmistakable as for the excess moisture if t really bothers you just use place a napkin over it and let it soak up the excess water.

Tank you! I've seen extremely well results using whole brown rice as my grains.. more people should use it!
I've been trying to get the excess off with tips of napkins and it was frustrating haha.. I didnt want to put the whole napkin on top but I will (unless anyone thinks its a bad idea to put the WHOLE napkin on top?)

They evaporated a bit but still pretty wet. I covered it when I misted the fruiting chamber, but I'll eventually get it just right

cobweb rarely grows on the sides, you'll most likely see it o top of your trays if you do see it, and it looks like it sounds. cobweb.

Cobweb usually appears grey in color and looks like troll hair. Troll doll hairs, those weird little dolls our parents got us that were naked with a flowing mane of wiry hair.

2 years ago I had cobweb in a pf jar, it can happen. If your jars do get contamed its most likely not cobweb, cobweb usually comes about from stale air, or so I was led to believe, for the record that pf jar had very special circumstances behind it, and to this day only time Ive seen cobweb in a jar, its easy to distinguish once you see it

I used the wax paper method, even though its in a SGFC with some cakes..
I understand that the wax paper is to keep humidity close to 100% at the surface of the myc.. so would i benefit from the wax paper if the tray is in a SGFC that is 90%+ humidity all the time?

Another update.
Day 5 of fruiting conditions, primordia is starting to pop up (circled in red)

shitty pic but best i could do!

edit: i kept the wax paper on. only lift off to mist/fan (i mist it once a day, fan it 4-5 times) the surface seems to stay wet most of the time

edit: i kept the wax paper on. only lift off to mist/fan (i mist it once a day, fan it 4-5 times) the surface seems to stay wet most of the time

whats unoptimal? that it stays wet? I didnt mean WET WET, but moist enough for me not to mist multiple times a day

I think he might be talking about the fuzzyness, but it is really hard to tell just by that pic whether or not you need FAE. Different strains will form myc differently and sometimes it is just more fluffy than other times.

Whatever the case may be, good luck. I can't wait to see those little knots mature! You're in the final stretch now baby! :dancer:

On a side note if your sub is shrinking vigorously and your coming back to a dry top you know something nice is in the works
