slapphappypill, i've seen results that are the same and better with no casing. I don't presonally think a casing matters as long as your tub has the proper conditions dialed in ie- humidity and fae. Without proper humidity, a casing layer would make it appear to be better than no casing when in reality it was just fixing your lacking environment.

Well the 2nd flush is a bit sporatic. Picked about 350 wet grams today. But many more to come. I had one that was 70 grams itself. So thats bigger than the big one from the first flush. Ill post a pic tomorrow. To lazy to put it on here from my phone lol Will update with a total harvest weight when its done.

its pretty much a mix of different techs and some tweaking here and there. lol Its B+ on wbs then spawned to layers of straw and worm castings. It seems to work the best for me. You will have to try lots of different techs to see what works best for you. If you would like i can brake it all down on here how i do it just let me know and when i have time ill type it up. lol
And as for the second flush it topped out at 730 wet grams. Def Not what i was hoping for But combine the first and the second and i cant bitch about that from one casing lol
Here is the pic i said about of the big guy from this flush. He kinda split his cap and it happened all at once.

Ive never really done much with PF or cakes. Pretty much always used WBS and spawn to bulk. Here's a quick run down of how I do it. If you have any questions about specific parts let me know.
WBS (millet and milo) cover with water and let soak for about a half an hour, rinse 2 or 3 times, cover with water again and let it soak for 24 hours Rinse 2 or 3 times again then cook over medium heat stirring frequently until I see the very first signs of splitting seeds. Put in strainer rinse with cold water and let strain for about a half an hour shaking from time to time to get the access water out. Then put it into prep/sterilized jars cover with tyvek and foil and pc at 15 psi for about 90 minutes. Let cool in pc over night.
Take them out of pc shake to make sure they are all loose. Inoc how ever you choose. (ie. glove box or with flow hood) Then put it in the dark around 80 degrees F. Check in like 2 or 3 days. If there is decent growth give them a good shake and check again in 2 or 3 more days and usually shake again at that point. Then let them colonize 100%.
In an aluminum foil roaster pan I add about 5lbs of worm castings and hydrate it with a spray bottle while mixing it. Cover with foil and bake on 170 for about 2 hours. And let it cool over night.
The next day put cut up straw in a zipper pillow case, I use my 23q pc and a candy thermometer. Fill a little less then half way with water, get it to about 170 degrees and put the pillow case in the water and weigh it down and let it pasteurize at 170 for about 2 hours. (depending on size of the tub you may have to do several batches of straw) Clean an oven rack and put it over the sink and set the pillow case with the pasteurized straw on it to drain until cool.
Then take half of your straw and about 1/3 of your castings and dump it into your tub with 25% of colonized WBS. Mix it up and pack it down. Then put half of the remaining straw then another 25% of your WBS on top of that then the rest of the straw and pack it down pretty good. Then mix the remaining castings and seeds and spread over top making sure there is no straw sticking up.
Put back in the dark at 80 degrees and check it every couple of days and then when it is fully colonized I case with 50/50 verm/peat and oyster shells for pH and keep at 80 degrees and then when I start to see the myc come thru I patch and put right into fruiting conditions.
Thats about the brunt of it. Good luck if you decide to give it a go.

Well round 3 is in the books. About 420 wet grams. With another monster coming in at just over 81 grams. Will post a pic of that one tomorrow.
Still no signs of contam after 3rd flush so maybe get a half descent 4th.

re: 60 plus gram mushie
Goodness fucking gracious. That is insane.
I've harvested some pretty large ones in my time but I don't recall any of them approaching that scale.
