Is 72 degrees the actual temp inside the FC? Possibly the temp inside is cooler? Try another hygrometer their inexpensive, at least the the craps ones are.

I originally had the FC in my colonization area, with a pretty constant temp of 77F degrees. I still had lots of cracked caps etc, so I thought to try and move the SGFC to a cooler area of the house, so the RH wouldn't be so difficult to maintain @ 100%.
Just so I'm clear, the SGFC RH optimally should be > 95% 24/7, even overnight?
I'll try and grab some pics tonight..

i just started my SGFC tonight but you should try what im doing. i have a fish tank heater/probe type thing rigged into a gatorade bottle of water, my humidity has dropped since i wet the perilite from 90% to about 75 but the bottle is still cold, so once that baby heats up itll probably help. i also have a fan blowing air into my chamber

Or, you could get rid of all that worthless crap which is ruining your humidity levels and build a shotgun terrarium per the tek to give mid to upper 90% humidity and proper air exchange.
