Maybe these drugs arn't such a good thing.
And maybe the entities people see on drugs arn't very benevolent.

just because they have the potential to do a lot of good (as backed up by lots of scientific research) doesn't mean they can't be cause harm too. that's why it's always advised to be careful with them and take into account set and setting.
also just because they used these drugs and sacrificed their own doesn't mean its because of the drugs, more likely it just has to do with their beliefs in the first place, or maybe a combination of the two

just because its in their culture doesn't make it the "cause".
Some people can be taught crazy shit early in life and believe it no matter what.
these drugs are not garenteed to make you immune to brainwash..

Having experience ayahuasca, I can definitely say it's not the type of thing to plant ideas of sacrifice in your mind. Mama Aya wants you alive and well; it's her job to make sure you continue that way. Killing yourself would be counterintuitive.
As for sacrifices; I've found that simple mapacho tobacco smoke to be the closest thing to a dedication.
I can't really agree that sacrifice and Ayahuasca are linked in any way shape or form. Also, aren't the people who made ayahuasca famous unconnected to the aztec's anyways? I can't imagine an ayahuascero ever telling you to sacrifice yourself.

That's what I used to think too. But if you study aztec and mayan culture it's very obvious psychedelics like ayahuasca and mushrooms were central to their culture. Visions of snakes and jaguars are very common on ayahuasca. jaguars and snakes are drawn all over aztec and mayan culture as well.
They were well known for sacrifices. So how can we still use psychedelics and beleive we are making contact with benevolent entities? I think we are being decieved.
Unless someone can show me that we rewrote mayan and aztec history to justify ourselves when we conquored their territory.

Indeed they did, I believe mushrooms were used in ancient Egypt as well, and also ancient India, and parts of Asia.

Curiosity and going where nobody has gone before is what drove me to psychedelics... but now that I'm starting to make the connections I can't deny we are playing with fire here.
I've always been drawn to the unknown, bizare, awe inspiring side to life and that's why I was fascinated with psychedelics. but if the cost is exposing my soul to malevolent entities I'm not so sure I want to be in this game anymore. It's like opening yourself up to the spirit world. But being stuck in lower planes.
