Murderers come in all shapes and having homosidle tendensies doesn't mean that they can't be nice or likeable. The hurting animals is one of the signs of a seriel killer, so stay on this guys good side, he might not be done killing and you don't wanna be on his isht list. I honestly believe that there should be a licensing process that involves some sort of phyc ivaluation before people can have kids, but that's probably unconstitutional.
3 years in jail and 3 parole seems not a lot for murder, but they probably found him not in his right mind at the time he did what he did.

Well hopefully he has changed. If it was recent of course I'd probably go as far as quitting.
I don't know what I'd do if I was in your situation.

Actually, an eye for an eye leaves the whole world with bad peripheral vision, or maybe full of eye-gouging blind folk and less-violent folk with little peripheral vision.
You think crazy people always have non-social tendencies? This is rather normal, for horrific criminal behavior. I'd also mention that folk can change a lot in a year, much less three years done for murdering your own son. If I were you, I'd approach him and try to get as much understanding of his mind as you can. That's a pretty rare situation, and he probably could elucidate a bit on understanding of such, having been there and all.

For real.. holy cow I'm amazed you guys are so harsh on him.. I mean shit.. it was how long ago? I'm sure we all have regrets.. I would forget all about it.. clearly the relationship you have with him isn't a danger.. You are all letting the news get the best of you
The man was an adult when he did it, and I assume not some 18 year old kid, but an actual adult. There is something deeply rooted into somebody who would do something like that. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand kids, but I couldn't even do that.

Parties and music festivals and biker gangs and all that. I kinda get along with him. So the other day, this lady comes in. First time Ive seen her. Says shes his parole officer, just checking in on him. Im like wtf? So I do some research...turns out back in '96, he killed his son. Little baby. Couldnt stand the crying, so he would squeeze him to sleep, over and over again. Baby died at 7 weeks old. 29 rib fractures, 2 broken legs and a broken arm. They dont get a conviction on him for 3 years (wtf?), and hes worked with me for about a year. Do the math. He did less than 10 years....FOR KILLING A FUCKING BABY.
I just dont know what to think now. Im not sure if I can look this guy in the eyes anymore.

I know what you mean. About six months ago this guy I work with was found guilty of sexual assault on a young child... I used to eat lunch with him sometimes. We had talked, he seemed like a nice enough guy. Blew me the fuck away... he's doing like thirty years now for making a 7 year old suck his dick...
Sick bastard.

Fucking sick pieces of shit in this world.
U sure you might not be getting your co-worker confused with someone else with the same name OP? He sounds normal but the whole killing his son and animal cruelity isn't normal obviously so things dont really match up here.

Pretty much my thoughts. He was 36. A grown ass man. It wasnt just an out of nowhere breakdown. The guy had years of physical abuse toward others and animals.

I guess Im just kinda naive. I never really judge a book by its cover, and expect the best from everybody. Especially when they appear to be so easy going. I just dont understand how a man could have it in his heart to kill his own baby...

Wish you luck. Not sure what I would do since I have a 3 year old son and the idea of someone killing their child just horrifies and disgusts me. If it were me, I'd probably quit chatting with him and keep it completely business.
I do understand that some people can change and perhaps he's gone through Hell and learned his lesson, but it I'm glad I'm not in your shoes (no offense!).
