Like you have any idea my background in music.

I was listening to Skream and Benga, Kode9, Plastician, Zed Bias, Digital Mystikz and so on back in ~2000 before "Dubstep" was even a term.

I've been watching it evolve for the past ~15 years and it's just

do you still like the original bangers?

I'm in the US

@lovecheese  - I've heard a few new tracks from the OGs that I like, new benga is ok. There's a few gems out there amongst all the shit, but most of the directions I've seen them heading is - in my opinion - fucking retarded. Like bassnectar.. I used to like his old shit, now I can't stand it.

It's like no one can make an original fucking track anymore. It's all the same shit that was done in the late 90s, over and fucking over, they are just followers. Few things in this world piss me off more than musicians who can't make original music. maybe terrible drivers. Dubstep just happens to have the highest concentration of wannabees I've ever seen and they think they are god's gift to music.

shame what happened to skream though :frown:    I dunno if you still dig his stuff but in my head he just completely fell out.

Raves were a lot better before dubstep.  Why would a rave play undanceable music??  I went to a massive that I've gone to for the third year in a row now and this year they had a dubstep stage.  When the stages playing good music would do a breakdown or buildup in the music all you can hear is the stupid "WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP" from across the field.  Kills the vibe.  I think I might swear off raves until the dubstep fad dies down.  :feelsbadman:

I love love love dubstep but the dubstep crowds piss me off. Nothing but gangbangers and junkies. Not the good kind either, but the kind that will stab you and steal your shit for $10. Kind of why I have avoided raves for years now.

Now to add to this thread. Some songs I am addicted to atm.

Men who have a fear of women who exert control of their sexualities, know that they wouldn't be able to control or easily manipulate women who are aggressive, dominant, or defiant. Women who refuse to passively cooperate or adhere to stereotypical gender roles. So they use social stigma and social shame and call us "sluts" to try to implant fear and guilt in us, in an effort to control and coerce our behaviors. It is a completely selfish philosophy that stems from the belief that they OWN women.

Thus, me taking control of my sexuality is my big way of saying "FUCK YOU" to the institution, and another "FUCK YOU" to the patriarchy! :flipthebird: :smirk:

No I don't like the new Skream :frown: He road the failboat to commercial crapstep just like a lot of them did.

I did listen to that track you posted.. sorry but I can't dig it.

It's like they are all trying to have a contest to who can have the NASTIEST WOBBLE BASS WOMP DROP, but it's the same fucking thing. Chaotic WOMP WOMP WOMP, same shit I've heard 9 thousand times. Do they just steal the same bass line from each other? Sure sounds like it.

Hes just not doing anything new and Bassnectar is totally starting to feed into that drug tween pop scene.  I hate those Basshead shirts.  I have faith nectar will come around...All i know i left his set within 15 mins at electric forest and opted to go to Shpongletron.  Now Simon is an innovator his been playing the same shit for years but add new art and energy. Keeps it fresh.

Openmind as much as I'm not a fan of dubstep those do look like some cool gatherings.

Here's some pics of what dubstep shows look like in this party of the country.

Perhaps you'll think these pictures are really cool. I've gone to a few dubstep shows around here and I just don't get it. I don't like the music really. I've tried to, but there was only one dubstep band I've seen that I liked, (TwoFace I think they were called) and I'm not even sure if they qualify as dubstep.

Most of the people I meet there just seem really trashy and too weird for me. I don't understand the large prevalence of people wearing grateful dead shirts at dubstep shows. To be honest, it kind of sickens me. I think the only reason people go to dubstep shows, at least here, is because there's nothing better to do. There isn't a scene comporable to dubstep in terms of amount of drugs used and bought/sold at events. I think that's why most of the people here like it. Just a place to get drugs and look at scantily clad bitches (of which maybe 5% at a dubstep show are attractive, the rest are either ugly, or more likely, really really fat).

If people like dubstep I can't fault them. Good for them, I'm glad they found something they like.

Shpongle fucking rules. I saw the Shpongletron a month or two ago, blew my fucking mind. Same shit he's been playing for years, but he somehow manages to improvise and make it fresh like you are hearing it for the first time. Simon is a fucking genius wizard of electronic music. beyond doubt.

Unlike Eota who opened for him who fucking sucked. It was ok until they went into Chaotic dubstep mode for half of their set, I almost puked literally.

magnetic man is pretty cool. and  mesmerising the ultra.
I don't understand how a bassnectar fan could have never heard his best albums.

To me, that's like a modern day Metallica fan whose favorite album is Re-Load and looks at you like  when you mention Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets or Kill em All.

the only reason i stayed at bassnectar at electric forest was because i was candyflipping HARD, and was right in front of the subwoofers. The full body bass vibrations felt SOOOO GOOOOOD.

then i left and went to shpongle and laid on the hill and blasted off while the rainbow lasers created a veil covering the dancing stars above.

edit: and when i was walking away from bassnectar's set, some girl came up to me and asked me when/where skrillex was playing and i laughed in her face and walked away.

This is a track I started recently. and it's more or less the kind of dubstep I like. It still wobbles, but there's more to it than a wobble.

I was checking out the camp bisco lineup from this year and wish I hadn't because it was amazing. I can't wait for the first time I get to go to a festival like that.
