Yup...I usually attend two to four a year. There are many of them in my area through the summer, I really wish I could make it out to more of them. Definitely a relatively older chill crowd, but they still know how to get down and party.

I live in northern Califnoria.
They're all over the place really....The mountains north of Santa Cruz, areas outside of Yosemite, and up east of Chico in the feather river canyon. There's a few on the north coast as well near the Mendocino/Humboldt area. As far as EDM/IDM music goes there is about 15 to 20 different festivals/camp outs that go down around here through the summer, probably more than that though. Most have 500 to 1000 heads, some are a little smaller and some a tad bigger. These camp outs are relatively small compared to the bigger mainstream festivals. Smaller festivals/camp outs are what's up though , better locations, loose/chill security, & seems to have more of a family/intimate vibe.

The only dubstep songs I like are the ones that don't have a ridiculous wobble, and tracks that have more then just drums and a womp.

This is what the scene is like at the dubstep/bass music parties I attend.

A bunch of hippies, burners, and otherwise weirdly awesome beautiful people.

Yeah, please tell me how awesome the rave scene was before dubstep....
Rave scene wasn't really anything special, its a bunch of high retards dancing to someone playing music on a laptop or on a record player. It was a lot of fun, but dubstep didn't ruin raves, people growing up ruined raves. That being said, I love dancing to EDM, but lets not kid each other. Happy hardcore, Hardstyle, DnB, Gabber, and a lot of other genres that divided people existed in the rave scene long before Dubstep even existed. Thats one of the cool things about raves, they have a lot of different types of EDM. So while someone is playing dubstep, go to chill out room, go listen to some DnB but stop hating. I'm getting sick of people bitching about dubstep, its fun to dance to and if you don't like it listen to something else.

ya no shit. people who think that the dubstep "fad" is going to end make me laugh, as if it hasn't been enourmosly growing in populairty for the last ten years.
LOL reminds me of the people waiting for the rock n roll fad to die, or how about that hip hop fad....
better get used 2 it, because it's not going anywhere. it re-invented your EDM scene ie: completely owned it and took over

I like dancing to some dubstep. If the people are any good at putting on shows and don't overextend build ups before the break downs or add too much distortion or bullshit, its excellent music for popping and locking. I love getting down to dubstep but I rarely listen to it.
There does need to be other types of raves more though

Obviously you didn't even read the whole OP. I said it was outside and you could hear it from the other stages. Are you not able to read or what? If you don't like people hating on dubstep here's a novel idea: Don't open the thread.

Dubstep is this generation's disco, which definitely died despite your bad analogies to rock and rap.

That's some great input. You're a valued contributor in this thread and judging by your ratings, a valued member of this community. Or not.

You're right.. dubstep fucking sucks. I consider myself very musically eclectic, I like all forms of electronic music, and I can find something in every genre of music I thoroughly enjoy.
That is until Brostep became the new craze. I can't stand that shit or the people that go to the shows or praise dubstep like it's god and there is nothing else. Not to mention most people dancing to dubstep look like they have downs. The music is bad enough but the retarded fans completely ruin it.
There's a small handful of good 'dubstep' artists that I've enjoyed over the years, but 98% of it is complete trash.
That's just like, my opinion though. I'd go to those forest parties openmind is talking about though.

I've given up looking for dubstep I might like.
The ratio of dubstep songs I dislike to the number I like is probably 30:1

That's because they all follow the same exact formula and just copy each other. Unoriginal Clones. The only dubstep I've liked was shit that could only mildly be called dubstep, but cannot really be defined as it was so original, and who the artists evolved and moved beyond. The vast majority of dubstep coming out these days is the fucking same shit over and over, one trick ponies. Ok yeah we get it, bass drop wobble wobble womp womp. Can you do fucking anything else?

Yeah, the dubstep tracks I actually like barely fall under the dubstep category.
I just can't get into those songs that consist of only drums and wobble with random noises over them. Granted, there are some I like, but those tracks have minimal wobble. I actually started a track last week and put a slight wobble into it

Like you have any idea my background in music.
I was listening to Skream and Benga, Kode9, Plastician, Zed Bias, Digital Mystikz and so on back in ~2000 before "Dubstep" was even a term.
I've been watching it 'evolve' for the past ~15 years and it's just
Like I said, there is a small handful of current artists I can 'tolerate'. But the rest just fail. I know too much about it.. that's WHY I hate it.
