My mom got laser eye surgery years ago, like way back when it first started becoming popular. It lasted her 7 years, and now she is back to wearing contacts. I can only imagine that it's even better now with newer technology and what not.

I recall seeing this clinic in Manhattan that utilizes a completely different method, LASEK or something? I know that that method doesn't involve cutting any flap at all and utilizes lasers and other things to displace the cornea.. alright I'm sounding retarded because I don't remember the details but point being this procedure is risk-free since there is no flap with which to arise any complications from. If I pass by there again I'll get a pamphlet and let you know better.
I too am in dire need of laser eye improvement surgery. I wear glasses, my vision is super, super fucking bad. Like... how blurry your vision gets when you take Datura bad.
Like I said, there are other types of laser eye than LASIK. PRK does not involve a flap at all, and literally not a single person has ever gone blind from PRK, or at least not where I had it done.
Nice! My biggest fear of doing it would be going blind. So why don't more people just go with PRK rather than flap-cutting procedures? Was it expensive?
It was expensive - $4k for both eyes. But I went to a very reputable place, had a really bad prescription beforehand, and I'm covered for life. If my vision gets worse ever they will re-do it.
I also had to have it done twice, because my prescription was really bad before, so it reverted a bit.
