Taking a shower during a thunderstorm

I've got to be somewhere in about an hour and desperately need to take a shower, but it's STORMING like a motherfucker right now. Torrential rain, really close lightening and thunder, the whole shabang. And it's not going to let up for at least the next 2-3 hours.
Anyways, I remember mythbusters did a test to see if it was safe to take a shower during a lightning storm, but I can't remember the results.
Is it safe? Last thing I want to do is fry myself.

wear a condom. But seriously, it would be a freak accident if you were killed by lightning in the shower. Odds are in your favor. Roll the dice and be clean young hippie.

If lightning hits those pipes while you're directly under that stream of water it might be plausible. I recall a Rescue 911 account where some chic was washing her hands in a sink and got hit by the lightning. It could happen.

I still remember the introduction. My little sister and I used to watch that show all the time. In fact, the episode about the kid choking on a hot dog inspired me to complete a red cross basic aid course at a very young age. I've kept up with my cpr certification for the most part, too.
Shower, silly.

Water comes from the local reservoir, that got just as much rain as we did here. Plus I don't think my neighbors would appreciate a naked man rubbing himself down in the front yard.
I'm still alive though and that's all that matters.

Don't you have a lightning rod though?

Are you kidding mang? all those copper pipes are connected and water flows through them.
When in a thunderstorm:

Get a surge protector. Use a cordless phone.
But what are the odds of the lightning hitting your copper pipes instead of the lightning rod?

--Get a surge protector.
If lightning strikes close, the EMP will cause induction, especially in running drives and chips and fuck them up even without the powerline being hit. A friend who works as a CGI professional lost $20,000 worth of work and hardware that way.
--Use a cordless phone.
DECT phones are super easy to listen into. Like people used to listen to the police channel, now they snoop their neighborhoods DECT phones. You'd need one with serious encryption.

If someone is DECTing they hear the whole neighborhood, including yours.
Oh and the "i have nothing to hide" defense? Think again. What if a burglar listened into your call where you and a friend plan to be out fishing for the weekend?

Interesting! Man, Wiccan never fails to teach me something.
What you're saying though is that turning off the computer will not necessarily help either. As the magnetic pulse can generate current in any kind of conductor- doesn't need current to generate current.
And what kind of crazy guy is going to sit outside your house during a thunderstorm to listen in on your conversation?
Also, you could have a smaller, insulated tub that you put inside your tub during thunderstorms. And just use that tub.

True but with running current the effects happen at a further distance from the bolt, as the current in the chips gets "derailed" by the induction effects.

Thats not how it works, you can hook up an antenna to your PC, download DECT cracking software and the phreaking can begin. You can surf DECT calls like you can surf internet radio stations. You can do it at home where your PC stands.

I'm still confused. The wavelengths used by cordless phones still have a VERY limited range. I'm not going to listen to a cordless phone conversation halfway around the world from my computer unless someone else is situated very close by the cordless phone I want to listen to.

The problem is not that the lightning strikes the wire going to your computer. Because in that case you'd probably blow up the surge protector before you blew the computer. (Small price to pay IMO.)
The problem is the EMP generated if the lightning strikes close to you. Which basically corresponds to a big steaming cup of "You're fucked" from what I can gather.
