Pennsylvania - Gov. Corbett signs ban of bath salts, synthetic marijuana, psychedelics and analogues
    #14677051 - 06/26/11 11:09 PM (1 year, 11 months ago)

http://www.abc27.com/story/14964874/gov-corbett-signs-ban-of-bath-salts-synthetic-marijuana

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Gov. Tom Corbett has signed legislation banning so-called bath salts and synthetic marijuana.

The law will take effect in 60 days and will also ban the sale and possession of the hallucinogenic drug salvia, the psychedelic drug 2C-E, and any chemical substance that is similar to the drugs and used to create the same effects.

"If left unchecked, synthetic drugs could have developed into the most dangerous drug crisis since methamphetamine labs found their way into our state,'' Corbett said. "This ban on synthetic drugs sends a strong message that Pennsylvania will not tolerate the use of these chemicals."

The designer drugs had been legally sold online, in tobacco shops and other specialty stores, but law enforcement officials have attributed their use to rapidly rising incidents of illness, paranoia, hallucinations and violent behavior.

Lackawanna County banned bath salts after a user broke into a monastery and stabbed a priest. Centre, Columbia, Schuylkill, and Luzerne counties also approved their own bans on bath salts, also known as fake cocaine, as have 20 other states.

Under the new law, conviction for a first offense for delivery or possession with the intent to deliver will carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $15,000 fine. A conviction of simple possession will carry a penalty of up to one year in prison and a $5,000 fine.

On repeat violations, the maximum fine and penalty will double.

Because the drugs will remain legal until late August, Corbett asked merchants to voluntarily stop selling them.

Actually no, it just shows ignorance

These idiots are trying to put our fire with gasoline. Banning legal drugs only leads to an increase in dangerously unregulated illegal drugs. Instead of being politicians these people need to do what is good for their area.

I'd rather people be doing meth and crack than bath salts.
If they are all illegal, this bath crap will go away.

Really?? I'd much rather live next to someone who enjoyed abusing bath salts rather than a tweaker.

I don't want to live next to either of them. I do think bath salts are worse than meth, but add in the drug dealers, cartels tortures and murders, people overdosing because of inconsistent quality, overflowing prisons and exploding home labs and I'll take legal bath salt users next door any day of the week.

Plus the ban is on the non-federally banned synthetic cannabanoids, on 2C-E and analogues of 2C-E. I know the analogue act exists, but maybe he is just outright banning possession of analogues.

:lolsy:

Tweakers are usually pretty fucked up personages, but their behavior is a little less erratic than thems goat murderin bath salties.

Kinda sucks that something more benign like 2-CE is getting swept up because of the backlash from some faggotry like bath salts. Sounds like the governer is playing on ignorance to accomplish his own agenda.

Every bath salt article you constantly bring up the stupid goat fucker story. A goat fucker is a goat fucker, if he didn't have bath salts he would of been on meth.

Buying unlabeled "bath salts" in gas stations is stupid.

You know people can buy a chemical from a reputable vendor and use it responsibly, right?

I don't know if you're joking or serious, but I'll respond seriously. There was a dude who was hopped up on bath salts a few months ago that was found in women's underwear eating his neighbors goat.

go to google and search "Bath Salts Goat." It'll give you a good a laugh.

Ask Wiccan Seeker about reliable sources for quality product. dude almost died.

As for meth, yeah. Meth tweakers will break in to your place and steal stuff.
But meth tweakers aren't going to rape and murder your pet goat.

Advocating for the continuation of the drug war and all the damage, murder and oppression it causees is a foolish, foolish thing.

And banning something will not make it "all go away." Not by a longshot.

Damn this governor and his war party.

Banning bath salts will make it go away.
If you have to choose between illegal cocaine, illegal meth, and illegal bath salts, the salts lose every time.
The only reason people use this stuff is that it's legal.

Not really. People will just sell bath salts as cocaine or meth when they get them. RC's like these are still going to make it into the country and somebody is going to sell them.

If banning a substance would stop its useage just because a superior version is also illegal then nobody would be selling/using 2c-x's because mescaline is generally percieved to be a better drug.
