I don't like dubstep cuz its just a bunch of nonsensical noises thrown together and literally it all sounds the exact same to me. I prefer my music to make sense and to have some logical flow and rhythm.
I think my farts are more pleasant sounding.

It's because the main stream is garbage. But the real hip hop like Wu-tang, Nas, Lost Boyz etc. is the realness. Skrillex is like the T Pain of dubstep, or Soulja Boy.
The people who know what real dubstep is, want to keep real dubstep the way it is and low key, because there is nothing worse than people like Skrillex giving the genre a bad name, and people also don't want Skrillex fans finding out about Kryptic Minds and Lurka.

I think skrillex's flaw is the songs he picks for his samples. They're always like ... idk, more upbeat house/trance/idkwtf kinda stuff and then he lays it over with ridiculously wonky bass in a way that is totally incongruent. I mean, if you're gonna make dubstep, just make dubstep. I do like his wonkiness, but I don't like how he mixes it in with the other shit.
Mimosa is fucking awesome!
I think the most interesting dubstep is really more of the newer dubstep-influenced stuff. You know, the west coast EDM/hip-hop/dubstep stuff like Alex B (aka Paper Diamond), Big Gigantic, Pretty Lights, etc.
Dubstep is just a catchall phrase which refers to a HUGE diversity of styles.

Whats to know about it? I doubt theres anything I could discover about dubstep that would make me enjoy it.
Unlike when I used to hate metal, but now I listen to the lyrics and actually know a little bit about guitar/drums/voices I appreciate it a lot more and its my favorite genre.
What does dubstep offer besides repetitive bass thumping with random noises thrown in?

theres tons of great dubstep out there, just most of it is not super popular

It's all college kids listen to, and I've listened to like 1293156 dubstep songs that people have posted having this same argument. I didn't like any of them. I just do not like the genre, it is a simple matter of personal taste.

Well pmb. You can start by knowing that there are actually other genres out there. They are so much different from dubstep its easily recognizable.
Such as house, trance, and drumNbass. Some of the sounds of dubstep doo hurt my ears sometimes lol. I only have a select few songs i like. But if you start listening to other EDM. you might find out that you like some.

Nope, I dont really care for this. I like electronic elements in music. I love Bjork, Radiohead, Portishead, etc. They have many electronic elements. It's more of the dance formula that I don't care for.

i just told you. listen to more music and you'll see it differently and be able to appreciate the subtle things. dubstep is such a broad hodge podge of musical styles that it's hard to explain what makes it awesome to someone who either has a stigma or really doesnt care anyway.

I hate dubstep for almost the same reasons I hate Apple.
Generic, mass produced shiny crap for the masses, devotedly clung to by any fanboy who will just buy anything with the word apple (or dubstep on it).

there's not enough "music" involved for me to be able to like any of it
but it's ok, just about everything there is to be done musically, was done hundreds of years ago by classical composers, and since then everyone else has just been playing in the sandbox next to their great pyramids
if you can't understand that, and think rhythm is all that matters, then maybe you don't know anything about music

I hate dubstep because I hate electronic music. Pressing some keys on a keyboard and clicking a mouse isn't creating music and it doesn't impress me at all.

Know what the genres are make me like it more. I don't even pay attention to genres I have friends who like to classify metal into tons of genres but to me its all just metal. Know what the genre is called doesn't make you more receptive to the music.

most people who hate on dubstep thinks skrillex and excision are straight dubstep, and its really not...its all a melting pot of dubstep, you got brostep, original two step/garage dubstep, chill dubstep, your experimental stuff, then your mixtures of genres, like glitchy dubstep...theres many many kinds, and most people just hear skrillex and are like omg i hate dubstep (whiich is legit cuz skrillex sucks), but dubstep is soooo different than skrillex and excision etc etc

I won't say I hate dubstep, it just, doesn't sound appealing to me the way the music is mixed in some cases. You can call it ignorance, but it's like saying someone is ignorant for not enjoying the taste of a food. Take me for example, I think cilantro tastes like unscented laundry soap, everyone else thinks it's a godsend.
That (believing someone has to understand or enjoy a music) in its own is ignorance.

No, it's not cause I don't 'know anything about it' - there's tons of music I don't know anything about, and guess how I learn about it? I like it, so I start listening to it. Dubstep fucking blows HUGE chunks. I can't listen to more than 30 seconds of any dubstep song, and I've tried to listen to probably 100+ songs people have posted on this board.
"Knowing things about dubstep" is totally irrelevant. I know lots of people who don't like SRV - he's one of my favourite guitarists. Top 3 for sure. I bet that none of them know a damn thing about the blues, right?

Why do all of you dubstep hardcore fanboys think that just because someone doesn't enjoy a certain style of music, it means they're ignorant and know nothing about it? I know plenty about dubstep, hell I could probably even make some dubstep songs that aren't bad (certainly not good, but not bad), however I would rather hear a different style of music, work with a different style of music, be submerged in a different style of music. What's wrong with me not enjoying dubstep? What makes you have the right to ignorantly declare that I have no knowledge over the matter?

Also, bassfreak, on another note, coaster was mentioning how you need drugs to make dubstep awesome. If you need drugs to enhance something to the stage of awesome, then it probably wasn't awesome to begin with.

there might be a few songs i can "tolerate" but after one song ive had enough. skrillex really fucking sucks every song ive heard by him sounds like he put all the sounds my old Windows ME computer made when it glitched and crashed together

Uhm, I doubt you have the talent to even strum a tune on a banjo, let alone produce a song in equal to the greatest banjoists in bluegrass. But is that the point? The point is whether you enjoy the music or not. Do you like soft rock or country? Do you like pop? You might not, but granted, in each genre there are good songs. Does it mean you suck and don't understand them?

I'm reading that we don't know what dubstep is because we don't like it. That it's so much deeper but we don't understand or grasp it because we're not listening to it or enjoying it. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Maybe you're referring to young kids and not the shroomery members or something, please let us know. Oh, and a lot of stuff about how we have to know who the best of the best in the industry is and who their producers are apparently, else we ain't hip foo.

I read the whole thread. Please read my posts and stop being
I know what dubstep is, and as I mentioned before, I can appreciate the fact that there's work put into it that isn't bad work. Does that mean I HAVE to enjoy it or else I don't understand it? You're pretty fucking dense my friend. Denser than lead.

Like I said, there are good dubstep songs, I don't think this is bad at all, It's actually good, BUT I don't really care to listen to it especially when I'm not in the mood to listen to it. When it takes drugs to make me want to listen to something, I hold it below other genres.
bassfreak himself (ironically) even said 'as long as it sounds good.' wouldn't that be subjective to each individual's tastes and preferences?

alright, tell me some dubstep OGs, one who pioneered the genre, not skrillex who spins brostep., opposed to dubstep
maybe YOU do know what dubstep is (you havnent really given me any reason to believe that tho), but like i said 95% of the haters dont know what real dubstep is, shit a lot of people who LIKE dubstep dont even really know what it is

This stuff gives me a headache sober, I've literally listened to everything posted in this thread. I can still say I don't like it. Seems like stuff that you have to be high to enjoy but then again I can enjoy anything high so it still sucks to me.

Please tell me some of the founding members of bluegrass, including their producers and people who've covered at least 2 of their songs. Please name the top songs covered by bluegrass bands. If you can't do this, you don't know or understand any fucking bluegrass.
