From the looks of his replies, it was Humility voted no.
The fact that this teacher got arrested for defending herself when physically assaulted is absolutely sickening to me. The sense of entitlement kids have these days is completely ludicrous. He was a larger man and he was instigating a physical assault, so she defends herself and SHE GETS ARRESTED? Fuck that, her conduct was unimpeachable and I'm glad the school board backed her up, even if our fucking "police" would lock somebody up for defending herself against a physical threat.
In my opinion our society is way too easy on its kids. I'm sorry but this type of stuff happens because parents try to reason with and talk their kids into behaving good. It doesn't work that way. Sometimes there is no way to clearly communicate that what they're doing is unacceptable without hitting them. There is a clear line between abuse and discipline.

The video tape and commentary implies that there is no way to see when first contact was made (if made by the teen) but it clearly shows her striking him, apparently without physical provocation.

Her punch is so powerful, the student's head snaps back and the rest of the students in the classroom can be heard screaming and shouting with one saying: 'Oh my God! He didn't do anything. You can't punch him in the face.'
Mrs Hadsock replies: 'He pushed into me.'
The student is then heard saying: 'I didn't touch her. You guys saw that, right? I didn't touch her.'
It was reported at the time that the 64-year-old's assault gave the teen a cut lip and she was arrested on a single count of child abuse.
According to the St Petersburg Times, prosecutor Brian Trehy said the video doesn't provide conclusive evidence that the 64-year-old veteran teacher wasn't acting in self-defence when she swung at the student.
He said that students who witnessed the incident said the teen made contact first and the teacher was responding to that.
Impact: The second punch gets the student on the jaw and his head swings back

Basically the video doesn't show, eye witnesses are known to be unreliable, the teacher says he did the kid says he didn't.
No surprises there.
The point is: what did her striking him accomplish? Really? Did she "fend him off"? Did she do anything OTHER THAN instigate violence?
She didn't FIX anything by striking that kid. She escalated the situation and he chose to back down because lord knows whether or not you're in the right, assaulting a teacher is going to land you STRAIGHT in prison.
She did the *wrong* thing. Anyone who acclaims her and wants to shower her with accolades is confused.

The punches hardly even affected him. He would have been on her in a second if another student hadn't pulled him back.
I wouldn't say it's "right," and there were probably other means (like leaving out the door), but I can't really blame her, and I don't think she should be punished.

There probably were better ways to handle the situation, but the teacher obviously acted in the heat of the moment without much thought. As it stands, the idea that she could be arrested for "child abuse" - after lashing out at a man one foot taller than she who had her back to the wall - is fucking asinine no matter how you look at it.
