Yes I think death might probably be the end.

After reading what that dude wrote I can agree that some people fit his description but I know of several who do not. They believe death to be the end and yet find life to be fulfilling in and of itself. They take great joy in being alive and yet believe death will be the total end of them. Veritas comes to mind. She may have left before you got here but she was my mentor on death anxiety.

achieved through reasoned belief based on faith in the authority of a seer, or on the direct perception of those who know.

I'm afraid this statement seems contradictory and to me makes no sense.
