been living here for over a year and can count the native Oregonians i've met on one hand... am rather sure Portland is vastly comprised of transplants.

you don't want to live in the PNW for weather alone, it's been raining since october and won't stop until june, does it every year, it's 40 degrees right now, low of 34 tonight, in April. It rains 200+ days a year, and is constantly gloomy and cold. it's been out of the 50s twice since october and that was a fluke, it likely won't get out of the 50s again until sometime in may.
this winter's rain rotted away my back porch and woke up the other day to friend screaming bloody murder, a portion of it finally gave through when he stepped on it... lol....

all aside though, i love the weather here... the winter is comparitively mild and you actually get a spring here, so short lived where i grew up.... tbh i love it cool and wet.....

if you like live music, good public transportation, and fuckin' phenomenal thai food like myself.... there's a good chance you'd dig it here in Portland

Yep. It's mostly in the surrounding areas that you get the bitter natives.

Oregon is mostly like that. Even in Eugene people were saying it was very difficult to find a native.
I think that's part of why they dont like transplants...it's overrun with them.

It's small potatoes really.... I used to live in Seattle, a city completely overrun by tourists. THAT is something to complain about.

Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, San Diego, Atlanta off the top of my head and roughly in order
Scratch LA, San Diego, and Atlanta off the list and I'd mostly agree w/ you.. SF, NYC, and Seattle are really the only other cities I'd consider living in the States.

I dont think I would like to live in any of those cities. It would be nice for restaurant variety but that's about it.

Id live in Portland Oregon over Portland Maine due to the weather.
Maine is either cold or humid. Oregon is either warm and rainy or cool.

Portland is actually a very foodie city, I've lived and dined virtually everywhere in Seattle and have put a reasonable dent in SF, but would rate Portland highest in this regard.. am sure people will disagree, but there's no denying we're passionate about food.

Never been to Portland myself, but if we are talking foodie cities, LA is a fucking nuclear explosion of amazing food. You could probably live here your whole life, go to a different restaurant twice a day, and still find new amazing places to eat until the day you die. The girlfriend and I have a new hobby, that is finding new foodie places..little unknown hole-in-the-wall restaurants that have the best food. The fancy places are good too once in a while. But we like discovering the little hidden gems. And they are ALL OVER THE PLACE here. Although yeah, if we are talking full... Los Angeles is full. what there's like 18 million people within 50 miles from me in LA/OC

East coast people in general need less space than West coast people, or West coast people need more space.
either way- Oregon is full. Thank You, Good Bye.
I think that Seattle is a better food citty than Portland, but then again I've spent a lot more time in Seattle than Portland.

Portland FTW, been here for 11 years now, I'll be damned if I leave to anywhere but the coast.
